on the SM site I find this:-
Poser Pro 2010 Service Release 1.1 - REQUIRED

but below it is this which has a higher release number even though it says it's older.  so which of these 2 do I actually need?
Older Poser Pro Updates **Poser Pro Service Release 1.2 - REQUIRED

the first is for poser pro 2010.
the second is for Poser Pro (not 2010).

if you have 2010, then it's the first one.

What's even more confusing is that the 1.1 doesn't seem to update you to a newer version number. I ran it and I'm still at 8.0.3.11916

Oh you're such a useful forum
Well, you know when you think you are being very dumb and you purchased a new item and you go to the web sit and download the update and it dose not seem to work, and you get feed up and throw the update in the bin, well guys that is what I did and I have no idea if I am updated or not !
So what should I do ?
Mac Os x Snow Leopard
The poser 2010 is now happy in my applications folder doing nothing all day through!
and poser 8 is purring on my latest render

TrekkieGrrrl posted Mon, 16 August 2010 at 11:18 AM

Esther, I guess Mac has another version than Windows.

Can anyone on Windows confirm that the version number is the same after the latest update?

The update I downloaded says it'll update to the same version that's already running.

It looks like the update is actually for the Lightwave and Maya plugins, but that's just my interpretation. Could Stewer or someone from SM clarify if the update is for those plugins, the core application, Queue Manager, some combination of those things or the whole lot? (Not much point downloading stuff if you don't need it.) If it's supposed to update the core application, someone made a boo-boo.

I had updated PP2010 previously, and the version number changed when I installed this update. But maybe I missed something in between.

I do find it the disconnect between service release and version number to be a bit annoying. Other software make it easier to see where you're at on the update cycle.

PoserPro2010 SR 1 (released in July) changed version to 8.0.3.11916

SR 1.1 does not change version no., if you have previously installed SR 1

SR 1.1 makes changes to nothing but two of the PoserFusion plug-ins

PoserFusion

----------

- Fixed a problem installing PoserFusion for CINEMA 4D in 64 bit systems.

*- Provides provisional beta support for Maya 2011 (Note: compressed Poser content is not supported in Maya 2011; previous versions of Maya however, do still support compressed Poser content)

Yesterday's the past, tomorrow's the future, but today is a gift. That's why it's called the present.

As I said, my version was 11916 both BEFORE and AFTER I "updated" with SR 1.1. And I most definitely have SR 1 (and 1.1) installed.

So, as it has been verified, SR 1.1 does NOT update the SR, not on Windows at least. Perhaps they changed in on Mac to give it the same version number as the Windows version?

My Poser Pro 2010 is permanently minimized... running windows 7.  it shows the loading screen, then the library window pops up and stays onscreen, but the app itself is minimized and i can't maximize it.

any ideas?

Have you tried right clicking on the task bar item and selecting "Maximise" ?
The equivalent keyboard combination should be Alt-Space (to bring up the system menu) followed by "X" to maximise.

where were you when i locked my keys in the car with the windows down?   ok jk...

yeah in Windows 7 it's a real pain to maximize, you have to actually hold shift if something gets stuck then right click.  i did figure it out though!

Has any body else got another name for Mr Smith?
You're not the only one Artemis , I too have a complete blank on this one, not from Mr Smith but from my very expensive update.

Belladzines posted Wed, 18 August 2010 at 11:20 AM

Its just annoying, i did all the right things, side graded from P8 to PP2010 - registered - and now i want the update cause PP2010 is ticked to check on boot up .... and i cant get it cause well they cant find me .... i mean what the heck? and they dont provide great customer service, how many times do i have to contact them?

saibabameuk posted Wed, 18 August 2010 at 11:20 AM

Oh just another comment a techie at Mac told me he never uses new update's he leaves it at least 4/5 months so if it's working at the moment perhaps don't fix it for a 4/5months!.

Belladzines posted Wed, 18 August 2010 at 11:22 AM

But i've had it for longer then that, well since PP2010 came out .... i go by that saying "if it aint broke dont fix it" ..... sigh .... anyhows .... LOL ....

Once I had the same problem as described here.
For me the so the solution was, the delete the preference files (located at C:UsersUserAppDataRoamingPoser Pro )
Before deleting them and let PP2010 create them new, I backed them up, but never had to use them again.

You should have at least gotten an automated response to your question, if you contacted them via http://support.smithmicro.com. If you didn't then you either didn't really submit your question to them or the emails didn't reach you. But you could have checked that at the url I mentioned.

Belladzines posted Wed, 18 August 2010 at 12:05 PM

Oh i didnt get a automated response and i check my spam box just incase every day ... no i didnt get anything .... i'll think about contacting them again this week.
