I just got back from my 6 week follow-up to my July 7th surgery for endometrial cancer.

I got the pathology results back today. The news is good!  The cancer hadn't spread so surgery is all that I need!

I have to have very close monitoring for the next 6 years, a physical exam every 3 months for the next 2 years, gradually decreasing in frequency until 6 years.  Then I'll be discharged from the clinic and considered "cured."

But for now I'm cancer "free" which is a huge relief!

I go back to work on August 30th, as planned.

Thanks everyone!

When I heard I burst into tears!

One of the doctors I work with gave me a really nice bottle of red wine for Christmas last year. I never got around to opening it and the few times that I did go to open it I changed my mind and decided to wait for a special occasion.

Tonight is that occasion! So I'm cracking it open tonight to have with my dinner.

But I'm likely to only have 1 or 2 glasses. I'm not big on alcohol consumption. A couple beer, a few glasses of wine, a few mixed cocktails is about all I consume in a whole year. My drink of choice is Diet Coke with lime or plain ordinary tap water.

xuu4u your English is just fine!  Enjoy those beers!

I had my dinner and some Merlot yesterday. I was just too tired on Thursday to cook, so I had some fruit and went to bed early.

Today I went out and bought myself a ring.  I'm going to have the date of the pathology report engraved on the inside as a daily reminder of how lucky I am.

I got a really good price on it.  20% sale discount. They are sizing it at no charge plus giving me an additional 10% off.

Here is a picture of it.  It isn't as big as it looks in the picture.  It's just a nice size to wear on my pinky finger.

I'm currently on unpaid medical leave so i put it on lay away until sometime in September.  They tried to get me to buy on credit and don't pay for 6 months, but I would rather wait and pay it outright and own it, rather than have the bill looming over my head for 6 months.

It was on sale and I got some extra discounts (free resizing plus an additional 10%... I haggled!).  With taxes and the extended protection plan which includes future resizings, cleanings, diamond replacement in the event of diamond loss and some other things which I can't remember, it was about $450.00.  The regular price was $599.00.  So I'm thrilled!

The picture makes it look huge! But it really isn't.   It's 10k white gold with .20 Carats of diamonds which you have to squint to see if you want to see each one individually.  It has nice sparkle though!

@Acadia
well, beck from drinking my beers (got 4):
I held my promise to salute you with the first glass,  2 times.

meaning, from the bottom of my heart , just truly , simply wish you the best for your  future.

i think i can say that because i have some "bitter" experience with cancer in my family.

About your ring, (that looks sooooo beautiful)
We (humans) need things to hold on, THAT ring may be your thing to hold on.

In general, one of our human strength is to never give up, because you ARE human, you have this strength inside you.  (Just gets forgotten too many times)

Once i met a greece wise man, he told me that one task in our lives is to find the right keys.
Keys, yes there are so many, how to find them ?
For me one of these key's is music.
I am very much related to / concerned by music (srry not sure that this is expessed well, so
i say "music" or songs, or mp3's or you name it , means a lot for me.)

Thinking shortly about your positive message - and what it means for me - to be happy for YOU, 2 songs appears in my brain.
First one would be, "Ozzy Osbourne - Symptom of the Universe, and i MEAN the soft part it the end, not the hard-rock part at the beginning.
(just simply explains what happiness is  for me, or what i'm dreaming off:)
Second one would be , Offer Nissim - Happy People.

Writing that, hearing "Derek Sherinian - Man with no Name" you can call me
crazy, poser addicted, or any thing that comes across your brain.
and yes, i love rock music, and yes im very much concerned to this,
and yes i better stop now.
