you know, just when I have this brilliant response to a whole thread of dreadful drivel, the thread is locked. This usually happens when I'm bored out of my skull and have nothing better to do than read such bs. So in the aftermath, one has to spew crap at the thread...hey, my crap is as good as the crap that is aleready splayed out all over the web page.

So anyway, would someone please create another thread of drivel so I can respond with something deemed witty by me but not by anyone else ....

no, Haggis is a dish containing sheep's 'pluck' (heart, liver and lungs), minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt, mixed with stock, and traditionally simmered in the animal's stomach for approximately three hours. (Most modern commercial haggis is prepared in a casing rather than an actual stomach.) (thanks wiki)

Liver is gross.  Of course my Human Anatomy prof didn't help any when he held up the cadaver's liver, looked around and asked if anyone wanted lunch.  Guy's brain had definitely been pickled by all the formaldehyde.

We Scots have all manner of wonderful delicacies that are far better to eat while wearing a blindfold the first few times. Haggis is just the best known.
I remember a couple of years back seeing a professional chef being shown how to make traditional Black Pudding on TV. Half way through the process he rushed out of the kitchen of the woman who was demonstrating and threw up in her backyard.
Black pudding is a blend of onions, pork fat, oatmeal, flavourings - and blood (several litres, usually from a pig).
Haggis and Black Pudding are delicious. I've never been able to stand Tripe though. (That's the lining of a cow's stomach for those who don't know.)

Bon Appetit.

I LOVE liver. Preferably raw, but it makes the rest of the family kinda gag so I normally fry it lightly on the outside so it'll look cooked.

Hearts: The BEST EVER meat on a pig. Tender, juicy, tasty and filled with iron and other good things (as is liver, the best source of iron you can get!)

Head cheese (bits of pig's head in aspic) is a traditional christmas treat (yes: TREAT!) here, as is blood sausage. Hubby's crazy about both. I like head cheese just fine and if there's enough syrup, I can eat blood sausage. It's not the thought that is putting me off, it's just so sweet and sausage shouldn't be sweet...

The closest I've been to kidney was in a store-bought steak-and-kidney pie and it was a bit dissapointing... My dad loved kidney but my mom didn't like to cook them because she said they smelled like what had been in them L

Brains and eyes.. I haven't had and really don't want to either. Or at least I'd rather NOT know it until after I've eaten it. If something tastes good, who cares WHAT it is? Ever thought about what goes into an ordinary wiener? If you did, I bet you wouldn't eat a hotdog either...

I hope that someday I'll be treated to proper haggis, I've heard so much about it and I'm dying to taste it.

How about escargot (that's snails...) or frog legs? Or mussles? Oyster? (they're even alive when you eat them and they still taste absolutely DIVINE!)

So far, I haven't had REALLY odd things like roasted maggots or candied grasshoppers... but some people find that a delicacy, so perhaps it tastes better than it sounds? It's IMO silly to disregard something just because it sounds odd. I never expected to like oysters when I was invited to an oyster party. But I ended up being the one most eager to gobble them down. If you never try something new, you won't know if you're missing your new Favourite Food :)

Liver is great if it's cooked properly.  It's also a very good source of iron, being one of the major blood producing organs.  I'd never contemplate it raw.

Cats will most likely taste awful, since they are carnivores.  It's no coincidence that all the animals we usually eat are herbivores by nature.  Besides which, I'd never want to eat a cat.  I love 'em too much.
