I am trying to get a handle on inverse kinematics and am failing miserably. Need a tutorial on how to set up a long object such as a snake or hose.
The other question is wether it is better to manipulate each segment without IK or to use IK.
I want it to work in Poser 5 on up.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Pappy, technically, I can't guide you, but I just wanted to comment on how I was annoyed with Inverse Kinetics years ago vs. what a handy tool I find it now. I use it constantly when adjusting the position of hips, body parts, or final placement of hands and feet.
Great art is simple; but, simplicity requires the greatest art!

Nauerth, I have never used it and figured it is time I learned the benefits and disadvantages. I browsed the Poser 7 manual on how to implement it but I still don't know how to connect the bones to create IK. The manual probably tells how to do it but I haven't been able to locate where. I checked our forums and smith Micro and didn' find anything.

Thanks DrGeep, is there a tutorial showing how to set up the IK chain on a snakey (or hose, or noodle, or similar objects) model?

Perhaps ... What version of Poser do you have?

While you can do that, you'll find that IK works poorly when there are more than a few segments in the chain.
For items with many segments, your best bet is to add "EasyPose" ERC and possibly a short IK chain at one end.
