Hi,

about once a week I whine my Poser6 and/or my computer sucks.
When I don't, I look for tricks to reduce the load. :-)
Problem: I want to use just parts, e.g. James'  head. Easiest thing:
just set all other body parts invisible. But: see above... Thus I like to
know how to store just the head as cr2, and no, just as an obj file kills
all morphs and I have to keep them.
So, how do I that? Surely there is a link to a tutorial. I haven't
delved into *.pmd file use but expect me to understand anything
given time :-)

The simplest way to do body parts is to :-

  1. Remove everything from (a copy of) the OBJ but the required part(s).
  2. Edit (a copy of) the CR2 to refer to the new OBJ and just the body part(s) you're keeping.
N.B. If you want morphs to still work, you need to use a modelling program that doesn't reorder vertices (selective exporting from Poser itself is good enough).
Some body part boundaries aren't very convenient, so be prepared to make transmaps to achieve full control of the cut and/or make morphs to tidy up the edge.

You can keep the morphs by turning off "Use external binary morph targets", so that they get written to the CR2 when you save to the figure library.

It is more a decapitation.  Have you tried saving the head as a CR2 into your library?  I am imagining that the morphs may not work, but I have never attempted to isolate head from torso before.
