I tried looking for an existing thread before starting this one and if I did not go back far enough, please forgive me.

I currently am running a Sony Viao with an i7 proccessor and win7 64 bit and have Poser 6, 7 and 8 installed currently, my question is instead of installing a 4th Poser program I have seen where you can upgrade Poser 8 to Poser Pro 2010. What are the pros and cons of doing this?

Is it possible to just keep the runtimes from these programs to consolidate some of these programs, I thought about installing everything on Poser 8 but the almost 150-200GB of runtime materials and lets not even try to talk about my filing system to find the zip files for all of them to begin with. Plus I am not sure that the Pz3 files I have from Poser 6 and 7 would work in Poser 8 if I deleted them in favor of just one program.

I have lurked here for a while and have asked an occational question and find everyone to be very helpful which is greatly appreciated I just wish I could give more back to the group.

Like previous Poser upgrades, what you get is a full version install, which goes in it's own directory (but just get a discount on the price).
You can link any of your previous Runtimes in (i.e. no need to move any files).

I was hoping to avoid installing another version of Poser on my computer. I guess I need to start hunting for all of the files that I want to keep from poser 6 so that I can take it off. I have to many PZ3 files from other projects on Poser 7 to delete it. Is it possible to consolidate runtimes? Move installed runtime files from Posers 6&7 and install them in Poser 8?

Since I side-graded to PP2010, I haven't opened Poser 8. I see no reason to keep that programme at all: it's PP2010 lite, to my view. Unless someone can give me a compelling reason to keep it, it's going to be uninstalled soon.

Poser 7 I keep to run scripts that spit the dummy in PP2010, but I've uninstalled all previous versions, full-stop.

Here is a little background on why I am asking. I have designed and have been making a digital comic book that is posted on line. Several of my characters have been created in P7 and P8, using base figures that are in P6. I realise it would be easy to instal PP10 and then load the P7 and P8 figures and save them in PP10 and I can delete P8 from my hard drive. I would also like to get rid of P6 since I don't have a whole lot on it other than some background props I use and my base V4, and M4 figures. Forgive my lack of knowledge of the Poser nuts and bolts, but once I save a custom figure do I still have to have the base figure as a source or does it become its own figure? If that is the case, I could delete both 6 and 8 and just reload the stuff I need that is on 6 right now. I think once I find that ellusive "Posers for Dummies" I can better understand the program I am using, but right now I know that I do not use anywhere near the full potential of Poser.
