MATWriter Panel sports a very compact layout that is filled to the brim with features but small enough to fit comfortable on your Poser UI.  Futhermore, wxPython integration allows materials to update in the script in Real Time as you select props and figures in the scene!

Features:

• In-Poser Python Script Utility as a compact, dockable UI Panel.  Quickly drag and select multiple materials, control-click to add or remove individual materials.  FAST compared to clicking on checkboxes.
• Selection Title and available materials change immediately as you select figures or props in the scene.  The "Preview" material is ignored unless it is the only material available to a figure or prop.
• Writes Material Collection Files (mc6), MAT Poses (pz2) and/or DAZ Studio Material Files (ds).  Studio files are version 2 and higher compliant.  There is a selectable feature in the script to write single materials as mc6 or mt5 files.
• You can choose a separate folder for each MAT File type (mc6, pz2, ds) and the script remembers the folder for future saves.  You can also reset to the default folders.
•  Writes Partial and Full Material Files. Fully Shader compliant but you can instead write legacy Poser 4 mats with a selectable feature in the script.
• Can Write Material Files for figures, smart props, hair and regular props (require a figure to be in the scene to load those MATs).  The script intelligently knows what is currently selected and how to write the appropriate MAT.
• You can elect to also create rendered thumbnails for your Material Files, either on-command or always (via a selectable feature).
• You can enforce a Confirmation Dialog so that your old Material Files don't get overwritten.
• Allows you to enter the name of the Material File, which is saved between sessions.
• You can double-click on the material list to select all materials.
• In the Materials List, you can Copy any single material and Paste it to one or more other materials, even to other figures or props in the scene.
• The default version number for Material Files is 6 but this can be easily changed and remembered by the script.
• You can Load and Save Selection Templates.  These allow you to define certain materials to be be selected in the Materials List.  This is conveniently displayed as a dropdown list for quick application.  Selection Templates are saved smartly and keyed to the figure's geometry file.  That way, you could (for example) save a "Face" template for both Victoria 4 and Miki 2, call them both "Face" and they each retain the materials you selected specifically for that model.  This feature works with props as well.
• A Status Line at the bottom of the Panel reminds you of certain actions the script has previously taken, such as writing a Material File or applying a setting.
• You can define the colours of the text and background of many of the elements in the panel, which is saved between sessions, to add your own touches.

When one or more materials is selected in the Material List, you have access to additional fun and useful "Selections" tools:

• Materials "Reset" turns materials white.
• Set Transparent turns materials transparent.
• Set Solid returns materials to a solid state.
• Darken and Light the Diffuse of any material, either slightly or significantly.
• Give any material a Random Diffuse colour.

You can save the Layout of the script at any time (its size and docked state).  Other features are saved as you use or activate them.

DAZ Studio Material File Writing:

• Writes DAZ Studio 2 compliant .ds files, which can be read by Studio 2 and higher.
• Writes all simple Poser 4 compliant information.
• Writes Accurate Diffuse Map, Transparency Map, Bump Map (non Gradient), Relection Map (spherical), Specular Map (color or strength channel), Ambient Map (color or strength channel) and Displacement Map settings as long as the node work is simple (i.e. directly connected to a channel).
• Does not facilitate Transparency Edge or Falloff (DS2 does not use), Alternate Diffuse, Alternate Specular, Raytraced Reflection, Gradient Bump, and Normal Maps.
• Its best to use written ds files as a basis for your own material tweaks in DAZ Studio.
• The script attempts to handle lighting model settings by using a keyword dictionary file "dsLightingModels.txt", which is included with this package.  It is possible for you to hand edit and customize this file.  You have permission to redistribute "dsLightingModels.txt" if you wish to share your dictionaries with others.

** System Requirements **

PC Users: Windows XP or higher, Poser 8 or higher.
Mac Users: Mac OSX 10.4 or higher, Poser 8 or higher.

Notes:

• Works on figures (cr2), standalone or smart props (.pp2) and hair (.hr2) files only.
• Starting or Loading a New Scene without closing Poser can cause the script to disconnect.  This is easily fixed with the script's "Reconnect" command found on the right-click menu.  Alternatively, running the script a second time from the "Scripts" menu, will close it if is open and this may be a better (stable) choice before loading or starting a scene.
• There some differences on how the Mac and PC platforms display the panel in Poser.  All illustrations were done using the PC platform.  WxPython does not override some rendered mac controls, such as buttons and list boxes.  Font sizes will be slightly smaller than what you see in the illustrations.
