Ok I modeled a top in hexagon
exported it as a obj file
imported into daz
that bit is fine
its not rigged or any movement in it yet
but how do I texture it
I made the template in uv mapper
get the surfaces tab up in daz highlight the top and browse to the texture and nothing happens
the same if use the uv in hexagon instead of uv mapper no texture or anything ?
how do I export out of hexagon and import into daz and be able to add my texture to the top

OK, problem #1 - when you created your UV map, did you save the OBJ file after it was mapped? That's a step all the instructions leave out. One of those forehead slapping moments when you finally figure it out!
You can't JUST save the template from UVMapper, you have to re-save the obj file as well. The same is true if you UV map in Hexagon...........map, save, then export to OBJ in Hex.

No I didnt I saved the obj file in hex first am learning how to model at the moment
and none of the tutorials have found have shown how to export properly just to export as a object they say to save the object first, then to uv map in hex they dont even say how to save a uv map in hex

So many tutorials dont give beginners a fighting chance to just follow them they arent detailed enough

Thank you so much it seems to be sorted at least have got the texture on now
why do tutorial writers leave that step out as its such an important one, we all have to learn and would think they would do that.
just got to learn how to rig it so it moves with v4.2 now lol will get there eventually

LOL, I know it's not funny, but I went through the same thing when I was learning how to UV map. Somewhere, and I don't even remember where now, I found a tutorial which told me to do THAT - save the OBJ after you map. I guess most people just assume you know that part. Who knows.
What are you trying to rig with? I have a tutorial on putting the skeleton in with Figure Setup Tools in a PDF file out on ShareCG if that's what you're going to use.

You don't HAVE to save the UV map from Hex. Just create the UV map. I still open the obj in UVMapper because I get much larger and better template files from UVM. But, I do use Hexagon to UV map. For some reason, I've just never been able to get a good map using UVMapper without first creating the seams in Hexagon.

I set the seams in hex go in uv then save object then used uvmapper to make the template after you told me how to do that
I will be using the figure setup tools in daz to rig so that it will move with v4.2 so thank you for the link will certainly be giving that a try :)
