Can anyone tell me if there is a way of saving a model made in bryce 7 pro and be able to use it in other pictures, maybe as an .obj?  Sorry if this is a basic question, but haven't had the need till now!

Cheers

Shane

With some groupings, you can export it. But the grouping has to be booleaned in order to be exported.

Do you mean in other programs or other Bryce Scenes?

I just tried some.
I took an object I made myself.
Then went to Object/Convert boolean to mesh.
When that was done I went to File/Export Object and picked to what I wanted to safe from the dropdown menu.
Works for me!
Does that make sense?

Yes, Corrie. It does. The resulting file can be used in W3D & Silo to name just a couple.

Thanks...going to try that now.  Most of the models will be used in other Bryce projects!

A word of warning. If you import into Bryce an object/s that was exported from Bryce it will not act like a normal object and IIRC will not group.

So you only want to use them in other Bryce images?
Then why not safe them in the Create/User folder?
You can just used them like the other stuff in Create.

Keep your user folder empty so you can use it again and again. Copy the user folder inside your C:Program FilesDAZ 3DBryce7PresetsObjects folder. Paste it and the computer will call it "copy of user". Click on tthe folder and rename it something. Ive created Christmas, egypt, pirate folders this way. Open the renamed folder and you should see a user.obp file. Rename this as well to Christmas, egypt, pirate etc. You could even copy and paste several obp files and name them. That's how you get several categories in the same folder. You could set up ornaments, presents, text, inside christmas for instance.

The thing about bryce material and object files, once you import the object stays in the file. If you delete it the name and path get removed but the object stays. Once you bloat up your directories by adding and removing things it slows down how fast they load and display. If you export and import the empties get left behind in the old directory. Keep an empty so you can prevent file bloat.

Here's an old tutorial I did on material folders that can help.
