Hi all,

I just bought Vue 8 complete bundle.

According to the web-site,

http://www.e-onsoftware.com/products/vue/vue_8_complete/?page=3dimport

Re-Posing Inside Vue

As a Poser-Vue artist, you want the quickest, easiest way to work with both programs. Now there’s no need to go back and forth between Poser and Vue - any figure exported from Poser can be re-posed directly inside Vue!

Click to follow link

Using the familiar Poser dials, you can easily adjust the pose to fit the character into the Vue environment: Place a character’s foot on a rock, place a hand on a tree trunk, tweak the posture to better fit the camera angle or lighting…

The figure show the the skeleton of poser 7 figure is displayed in hierarchy, but when I try to import objects from poser 7 scene, they are displayed in the same level.

Why?

Thanks in advance

Did you check the "Allow reposing" box in the first dialog you get when importing the .pz3 file?

Be warned that re-posing of Poser figures is extremely slow and unresponsive unless you have a very powerful system.

"thd777" is right - that's the default way to do it.

But you may consider using collada exported versions instead. They come into Vue as "rigged meshes" (if exported correctly)and can be re-posed without the ressource-intensive Poser linking.
I haven't had too much success with the Poser 7 collada export, but the DAZ Studio one works great. Of course it's a bit tedious, but: Make the character as you like it in Poser, import to DS, export it to collada, import to Vue...

@thd777: Thanks. You are right. I followed your instructions. To see the hierarchy, I need to double-click any part of imported poser figure.

@bigbraader: Thanks. I will try this later.

Just wanted to add: I completely agree with bigbraader. Collada is the way to go for posing in Vue. These days I use DAZ Studio pretty much exclusively for moving stuff to Vue (.OBJ for stills and Collada for animations/figures for posing). One big advantage of this pathway for me is also the availablbility of the Decimator and Texture Atlas plugins for DS which allow the quick and easy setup of low resolution figures from anything in my collection. My new rig doesn't even have Poser installed yet, and I have not missed it.

Excuse me for being stupid, but what is Collada and how much does it cost?

Collada is a semi standard format for exchanging model and animation files between different 3D application, not a separate application. Vue can import Collada files (.dae). How much does it cost? Nothing, if you use the free DAZ Studio which can export animated and still .dae files. Poser 7 and 8 can export .dae without rigging (static). As far as I know Poser Pro can export rigged .dae. However, I have only experience with the DAZ Studio export. That works generally quite well, but still has a few bugs (most notably the 100% reflectivity issue, but that is easily fixed with an "Edit all" or Abrahams python script).
