Nice start to the month's challenge Frodo, gotta love those coinkydinks!

And a nice choice Carin, I'm going off to plan some images....   👍

They say a picture is worth a thousand words...

So where do they go when a photograph leaves you speechless?

babuci posted Tue, 02 November 2010 at 4:30 AM

Good and interesting idea Carin.

Question/ rule bending: Is the inverted silhouette count as a silhouette?

Meisiekind posted Tue, 02 November 2010 at 12:34 PM

@ Frodo = great start. Love the bird in flight.

@ Tunde = What an idea... inverted Silhouette! That would be neat. Please show us how that is done! :))

@ Helle - and yours is just the opposite - wonderful warm glow behind your lovely tree silhouette

@ Tunde - WOW - that is incredible. WOnderful and perfect contrast between black & white.

@ Marilyn - Awww - that is so you. Marvelous pre-sunset and the lifesaver hut reminds me of Miami!! Great one girlfriend!

Late to the party, as usual! LOL And the "opening acts" are impossible to follow! I had deleted this photo because I wasn't sure I liked the way the sun hit the indian maiden and made her so indistinct, but on second thought, it might work for this challenge and maybe I can do something more to it to make it work in the gallery...  This is a flat Iron statue in the park next to the Texas City Dike right near where all the wind surfers like to ride the waves.

babuci posted Sat, 06 November 2010 at 1:16 AM

@ Liam, I reckon your picture is a fine exsample of of colored silhouette.

From wiki...

"From its original graphic meaning, the term "silhouette" has been extended to describe the sight or representation of a person, object or scene that is backlit, and appears dark against a lighter background. Yours fit right into this."

I am actively looking at things differently. Instead of deleting shots I think are no good, I'm finding many of them were just different... This challenge has shown me that its not always about the detail but about composition and imagination. These are all wonderful stories played out in composition done well.
