Hello, fellow Poserians. A question for whoever has a good answer.
A friend of mine asked me to do a render for her, depicting Seshat, the Egyptian goddess of writing. The only thing I'm running into, besides not being able to find shelves full of papyrus scrolls, is I'm unable to find an appropriate leopard print dress; an image of which is in her Wikipedia entry.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seshat
The image I intend on doing is not going to be an exact copy of that original picture, but I do want to maintain the same flavor. I have other egyptian style dresses I can use, but the main request from my friend was the leopard print outfit.
At a second glance, the outfit looks like a bodysuit. I could use the standard V4 bodysuit of course, but I've not seen an appropriate texture for it. I could possibly hand make one, but I wanted to make sure first that I had not overlooked anything. I have searched here and other sites without much success, so I thought I'd ask those of you who have been around longer than I if you have any other suggestions as to what I could possibly try.
I thank you for taking the time to read this, and I look forward to any thoughts you may have about my small problem.
Scincerly,
Mike Dovers

Frances Coffill has a set called Delta Sun that is Egyptian themed. Not sure about the leopard skin texture but there maybe something available online. Delta Sun DOES include a long dress for Aiko 3 and a skirt like thing for Hiro 3 ...
You might be able to locate textures at CG Textures.
Good luck,
Rªnce

Yep, noting at CG Textures but I came across this site: http://www.leopardskin.net/
If you have a long skirt you could try using the backgrounds at above site as texture map. Delta Sun is available over at DAZ. I could have swore I bought that here ...

Hi Rance01! I thank you for your thought on the Seshat's outfit.
I got the texture you suggested, just in case. I don't mind applying that to a suitable dress; I was just trying to save some time.
I went looking over at Daz and saw Delta Sun. Looking around a little more, I also another set that I can use. Pharaohs of the Sun for V4 by AS3Design, together with Children of Aten by LaurieS. The only thing I saw with Delta Sun is I'd either have to convert it, or use A3 instead of V4.
Good idea on the texture. I'll play around with it and see what comes up. Thanks bunches!

I am working on the dress right now. Give me a little while and I'll post it, and see if you can use it.
Can you work with dynamic if I can't get it to conform well?

I should be able to without much trouble. My model's body is a standard V4 using the Elite morphs to make her a little thinner overall. No strange Borg morphs or anything this time! ;)
Thank you, BionicRooster, that is very cool of you to give it a whirl!

That's cool BionicRooster. Good to see folks helping folks.
Best Wishes on your project. I'm always getting into trouble with people I know, 'Hey, can't you make me ...' Thing is, I usually have enough goodies in my Runtimes to make a reasonable effort. Sometimes I have to dig unto archives and load something I hadn't seen for a while ... let's see, I know I had an old crown laying around somewhere ...
Mornaric posted Wed, 03 November 2010 at 5:42 PM
Lol, isn't that the truth! Same with this one. I knew I had the egyptian temple and a few other goodies, just couldn't find it in right away in all the backups.
And thank you for your wishes. I know what I want to do is going to take a while. I already know it's going to take some layer work in Photoshop. No worries tho.
Best tip I ever got about Poser was from here. It seemed to me like the dumbest question, but it was answered in about a half hour or so and it's made my life a heck of a lot easier knowing it. So yeah, the crowd here at Renderosity rocks!

Here's what I have so far, I still have to make the scarf that goes around her waist.
I'll include texture maps so u don't have to just use the ones I made.

Holy crap BR! That is very awesome of you, thank you!
When I get the final render done, I'll either drop it here or in the gallery. I just did one with another dress while I was waiting and now I'm tweaking the background.
Very cool of you!

Glad to help. I need the practice making clothes, so I saw this post and thought it would be some good practice. I haven't quite got the hang of rigging conforming clothes just yet, but I do pretty good with dynamics. I would be very interested in seeing the final image when you are one, so yeah, post it!
I have to run to Wally World real fast, so I hafta take a break from modeling. But I should be able to send you the finished dress in a few hours. Sorry about the wait.

Would the scroll from RuntimeDNA's Shocktober2009 freebies do for your papyrus scrolls?BionicRooster posted Wed, 03 November 2010 at 6:28 PM Forum Moderator
With a papyrus texture, I would imagine it would do quite nicely.

Thanks for responding to my query, Raven!
It might. The catch is, while I need scrolls, I need, well, a library full of them. I see an egyptian goddess of writing surrounded by them. I'm not quite sure what an ancient egyptian library would look like, and I'm fairly sure Zahi Hawass isn't going to answer any questions I ask him, so I'm going to have to wing it. I adn't thought about a single scroll, but it might work. I saw one somewhere that had hieroglyphs on it already. Hmm...
Here's my first go around with her, as promised. And BR? No worries on the wait; at the moment, I've nothing but time.
My apologies for the image size. I shrunk it to 1024 x 576. The original is at 1920 x 1080.
Rance01 posted Wed, 03 November 2010 at 7:39 PM
Looking good, and BR's dress is awesome. Just finished a project for a friend. Funny, she's always getting me into trouble but I usually come out fine. Looks to me like you're better than fine.

Well, here's what I got. I tried to make it as close to the Wiki image as I could, so it's not as fashionable as the one you used in that pic.
The belt is seperate, so you have to run dress simulation, then belt sim (and have the belt collide with dress) even tho cloth sim settings should be saved in the prop file (hopefully)
Hope it helps!

He he, I'd like to see her run fast and jump high wearing that thing. Seriously, the dress looks great. I don't use V4 much, but I think I might have to try that dress out myself.

Well, here's what I got, using both textures. The only thing I can't figure out is the fringe on the arm. It seems to have a mind of it's own. I rescaled both dress and belt to closer fit my thinner model.

for closer fits you can adjust the collision depth in the cloth simulation. And I made a versioin of that dress that fits A3 if anyone is interested.

Ah, ok, I'll take a look at that. I've rarely used dynamic clothing up till recently, so it didn't occur to me to check that. Thanks bunchs BR and everyone else!
