Sorry to publicly geek out, but I've been messing around with this for a few hours and I'm obscenely excited! I never thought this would be possible with the current-gen Poser models, but I'm very glad to be wrong :) Say what you will about DAZ; they're seemingly first in line with innovation. Rendered in Carrara; I just cherry-picked the translucency maps from the "Reby Sky" shaders. (The lens flare is just to show where the light's coming from) 1280x960 image rendered in 9 minutes with SSS, 7 minutes without. Not too bad... There's definitely more tweaking needed, but I'm pretty happy so far! What do y'all think?

Angellina Jollie?

I mean the real SSS :)

Who's Angelina Jolie? Never heard of her...

Sub Surface Scattering? it looks great, is that the script that Bagginsbill did or is that built into Carrera? I have Carrera but never used it. So many toys so little time.

No scripts; translucency maps and shader-level SSS, all right in Carrara :)

Very cool. that in the new version or is it in the previous one as well. skipped the last upgrade.

Carrara 8 Pro 64-Bit

It should work in C7, but don't quote me on that :)

:P

I guess I should dust off my C8Pro and see how much better it is from C7, eh...

Nope. Alan Alda

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

This is actually a hyper-accurate digital scan of Alan Alda; I have a friend in Hollywood who set it up for me!

Very nice and a tremendous improvement. I've always found that Carrara renders lacked something I can't really define but this looks very impressive.

**jt411, I also was very excited about Reby and even though I didn't care much for the morphs I quite happily bought her for the sss and translucency maps.  Very happy, still playing and refining my shaders in Carrara, but this is very very cool.  :)
