Man gets Poser 5 back in the day. Installs approx. 40GB of content. Fun..

Man comes into some money, thinks 'Why not get Poser 8?'

Man actually gets Poser 8, and realizes....

There's still 40GB of stuff that Poser 8 doesn't know about.

The old-style library is gone, and all he can find is a robot...;)Where are the 500+ figures (and that's just Daz...;)?

The help document doesn't seem to have anything for 'external runtime'

Tries loading an old Poser scene file. All my content (heh heh) loads, but V4 doesn't.

Is there a way to get Poser 8 to see the Poser 5 stuff (and all the Poser 6 materials I downloaded and couldn't use...;) Preferences didn't seem to help.

Just some temporary info overload. Don't say it too loudly, but I swear Poser 8 looks like Daz Studio...;)

I is a nu-be...again...;)

You can add the old Poser 5 library as an external library.

Another thought -- you didn't uninstall Poser 5, did you? If you uninstall Poser, it will also remove your runtime.

I've been using stuff installed in my P7 runtime under both P8 and PPro2010 without very much trouble.  At the top right of the library pallette, there is an icon of a folder with a "+" sign and a running man, mouse over that and you can figure it out from there I think.

For V4 I think you probably should reinstall her in the P8 default runtime library and rerun the "Update V4" shortcut.  A lot of people have had problems with V4/M4 installed in an external runtime.

Can't say that's true, pjz99.  I have V4 installed in P7 and I can use her without any problems in P8, Poser Pro and Poser Pro 2010 as an external runtime.

I know a lot of people (probably the great majority) don't have problems like that, but it's pretty commonly reported.

Thanks all. I've found that folder icon about 5 minutes after I posted (ain't that always the way?..;). I've got a lot 'o learnin' to do...;)

Nah, didn't uninstall P5, too lazy..;) I'll probably spend some major time loading stuff into P8, just didn't want to do 9 years' worth...;)
