I need to zero the pose of my character without zeroing the morphs I put in for his face and body. Is there a way of doing that? I'm not seeing anything that allows for just removing the pose.
PhilC posted Sun, 09 January 2011 at 12:22 PM
Suggest using the zero pose button in the joint editor window after first turning off all IK chains. You may then need to finish off by selecting the hip and body and zeroing the translations.

Figure Menu> Zero Figure
Remove IK> Use any of the Remove IK Pose that come with Poser. (I moved one to the top of the Pose Library. I think you could put one in the top of every Library (Character, Expressions, etc... ) in Poser 8. I know it will show up, have not tried it.

To clarify, it is Poser 8 (Poser Pro 2010)... Poser 8 was released in August of 2009.
There is no Poser 2008

The Poser developers strike me as brilliant programmers but dunces at usability. How could thay not have realized that
Figure->Use Inverse Kinematics->RightLeg Uncheck
Figure->Use Inverse Kinematics->LeftLeg Uncheck
wasn't the most user friendly way to go. And you say it's been that way since P5?! Wow! I only started with P8, so I assumed it was a new feature.
But do you really need to zero out a character when it's first loaded? Isn't it at the zero state by default?

I meant the base characters like V4, M4, etc when first loaded are at the zero state. Right?

Wrong. Most of the DAZ figures load slightly posed. For Example V4's feet by default load flat on the ground even though they are actual bent down on the model.
For Zeroing a figure and turning IK off, one of ockham's scripts will do just that and is a script that I use a lot.

@ ElZagna
Not necessarily ... It depends on how they were saved (stored) in the library when created the very first time. If they were not in a zero pose position when saved then they will not be in a zero pose when loaded. If you want them to load in a zero pose position ... Try doing the following ...
Load the figure
Turn OFF IK for both legs
"Zero" the pose (using the Joint Editor)
"Drop to floor" (optional?)
Save the figure back to the library

Thanks for setting me straight. The base figures aren't necessarily zeroed.
