Is there any better way, easier way to get the lighting one wants on a character? I find the light controls in Poser 8 to be quite difficult to use and position. Are there any better options or tricks to use to get the lighting one wants?

Not sure what you want. There are really only three ways to do it as with any other app.
Set x,y,z coords.
Use the gui light control,
or setup multiple display views and drag them to where you want them.
Poser 8 comes with some pretty decent light setups in the library. Study those and use them as a starting point for what you want.
Handle every stressful situation like a dog.
If you can't eat it or play with it,
just pee on it and walk away. :-)

I also find the gui light control to be very counterintuitive and difficult to use. I would appreciate a tutorial on how to position lights effectively.
