**January 2011 Bryce Challenge
** ** "CONTACT"
**
ENTRY
Quote from Orbital:
the next theme will be called "Contact". With the on going search for life on other planets use Bryce to depict such a scenario. This can cover a wide range of topics, wether it be science fiction, or science fact. Maybe you want to use the movies for inspiration, wether it be an alien invasion, abduction, or something like Close encounters.
POST WORK
Anyway as usual I'd like to think you model as much as possible in Bryce. Imports are allowed as is postwork, but your final image should not be dominated by these factors.

I rescaled and approved it for you.

I too received the error message image or file size incorrect, yet my submission was 800 x 600 and file size 192KB with thumbnail 100 x 100 13.6KB.
I'm never sure what is required in the first upload image box - (file size 10MB max.) I submit the Bryce .br7 file, of 8.7MB, Is that correct?

Yup, something weird is going on. Which means I've now entered without an image and can't enter again.
AnnieD posted Thu, 27 January 2011 at 12:41 PM
I don't think you are supposed to submit your .br7 file...just the .jpg.

The jpeg actually gets laoded twice. Once in the image box and once in the file box.
No need for the BR-file.
Phil, let me check it and I'll clear the entry error so you can re-up.

@ Phil: Your file came through over scale @ 1274 x 705.
I cleared the buffer, you can re- upload. The larger of either side needs to be 1024 or less.
Here is the text you submitted with your entry.
(Last Contact" - A race of being that can travel hundreds or thousands of light years would have no issue cracking the Earth like an egg.
Apart from the map of the earth this has no imports and no postwork.)

Thanks for the info. In my defence, the file size of 10MB seems a bit misleading, jpegs being far smaller. The br7 file approaches that size, I assumed it was required to prove that the image was built up using Bryce.

Sorry Rod, my upload should be in there somewhere. Forgot to resize the original, because I was rushing around.
RodsArt posted Mon, 31 January 2011 at 1:45 PM
I'll clear the entry so you can resubmit. The thumb is heavy kb wise to.
Thanks for the heads up Joe.
Here is the text you submitted.
Man returns to the moon.
Just a quick one as I nearly forgot to get an entry in. Bryce with astronauts imported. Also post work on the earth to get rid of some edge details plus an improved star field.
