Hi All!

I have bought a number of clothing items that are "Dynamic Clothing".  I cannot find them (they don't seem to install in the way every other prop/clothing/hair, etc., I've bought, installs).

In short, I am COMPLETELY lost when it comes to dynamic clothing...  Is there a tutorial or other source for me to learn about them?  I have near $100 of clothing that I cannot only NOT FIND but even USE!

Help!?!

Thanks!

Kevin

D|S Dynamic Clothing has to be installed to a D|S-format content folder.  What are your D|S and Poser format content folders?  Are you using Category or Folder view?

I don't know a THING about Poser (I have Poser 7 - don't even touch it).  I use a default set up for DAZ, if that makes sense.  I let DAZ do what it wants and normally have no problems.  Everything I install gets installed (or unzipped) to DAZ's content directory.  My experience has been that if I interfere with an installation in DAZ, I end up with SOME kind of issue, so eveything is installed with default options.  I have a screen shot of DAZ in hopes it will answer your question about the view...

THANK YOU for trying to help!

That's showing the items that are in Poser format.  If you go up one level, there should be a folder with an S on it.  That's where the D|S-format items are.

Again a screen shot of DAZ.  No "S"..

Thank you...

It's the folder labeled "Studio3".

Ok...  I found some of the things I bought. I also bought the Dynamic Clothing Control.  I am totally lost as none of the dynamic clothing I bought seem to work in a familiar way - obviously I am self-taught (poorly, I might add).

I appreciate your time and help.  It's frustrating as I have spent a lot of money on this and now I have things that are difficult to find AND use...  And NO understandable documentation.

Thanks,

Kevin

Is that the 32 or 64 bit version of DS? Currently dynamics work only in the 32 bit version (if you have Advanced then you can freeze them so that you can open the saved scene in the 64 bit version, should you need that for rendering the complete scene). The Dynamic Control plugin replaces the built-in plugin, and appears in the View>Tabs menu in place of that (View>Tabs>Dynamics).

I'm running the 32 bit DS freebie.  My OS is Win7 64 bit.  I am thinking that is the problem...  The Dynamic Clothing Control doesn't complete installing (I bought it a while back and forgot I had trouble installing), so it's not present.  The clothes themselves don't load (visibly), though I see them listed in the scene...  So, I'm guessing I wasted some money...

Thanks for your help.  I sent an email to DAZ support.  As I said, I'm fairly certain the problem lies on my OS...

If you aren't using the latest version of DS then you will need to get it..it is free too.

Thank you very much!

Downloaded and installed the newest version.  I'll give it all a try again!

Dynamic clothing should work in DS32 - even if the control plugin didn't install the basic plugin should be there and working. Find its entry in Help>About installed plugins, and see what it says.

You may need to update the clothing control plug in as well by the way. We have the same OS so its more a matter of getting the versions of studio, dynamic cloth, and the cloth control plug in that all work well together.

Martin who works with optitex has several tutorials on his site. You will have to register to get to the forum where they are. It is worth it as he has pages and pages of freebies.

http://www.optitex-dynamiccloth.com/

When you can load in the dynamic clothing be sure that you select the top level (Not the rig) and then "fit to" your character. The clothing will conform to the character but not exactly. Do not panic that is fine. Now in the dynamic clothing tab your going to drape the fabric over the character. But before you can do that you need to select which parts of the character and the scene the clothing is going to interact with and set it to collide with the fabrics. You have two options, one is a time line drape and the other is static. Which you chose will depend on the clothing and the pose. If the clothes fall off and you have fit it to the character and set to collide the most common problem is that the character is scaled down. Be sure that for some crazy reason v4 did not load in with a stephany morph or a reby morph as those will shrink her whole body. The dynamics can be used with the smaller bodies but there is a bit more fiddling.

I've been having the same problem, however, the help you have provided has yielded zip.

In one of the many folders DAZ Studio lists, I've found icons for dynamic clothing (in this case the Dynamic Sheets).  I double click on the icon, I get the usual loading dialog, but then nothing appears.  Also, under Tabs, the dynamic clothing app does not appear.

Everything worked at one time, then suddenly, with no changes to my system (no new software, upgrades, etc.) all things "dynamic" stopped working.

Very frustrating.

This is the 32 bit version of DAZ Studio? Have you looked to see what the plugin's status is in Help>About installed plugins?

Nukeboy posted Tue, 15 March 2011 at 3:28 PM

I am running DS 3.1.2.32 32bit version.

The plugins info states that "dzoptitexclothingcontrol.dll" is disabled, register and "Plugin Evaluation is no longer valid."

I have two files:

DS3_DynamicClothing_Control_1.0.8.13_Win32.exe

9032_1_ds_DynamicClothingControl.exe

I have ran both and nothing.

My purchase history at DAZ shows DynamicClothingControl as ds_ap73b which I purchased for $1.88 during one of the big sales.

On an aside, the option to "Reset the content database" under EDIT>Preferences>Content Management" doesn't work.  My content folders, most of them empty, remain.

RHaseltine posted Wed, 16 March 2011 at 9:17 AM

You need to enter your serial number - there should be a register button next to the plugin in Help>ABout installed plugins, the serial number is on the Available serial numbers page of your account. Once you've entered it an clicked Accept, restart DAZ Studio. The content database is what you see when you view as categories - it has nothing to do with content directories, which are managed via Edit>Preferences>Directories (remember to check all three lists, by clicking the button at the top of the dialogue).
