Recently I've been making morphs as I import an object that will be attached to another within Poser. I export the base of two objects, then create the morph and then export those two as one.
But I noticed that Poser adds ":1 & :2" to these to the 'usemtl' sections in the new objects you're making with a Poser OBJ export.
Is there any way to avoid this?
I suppose it's not really that big of an issue however I do open the OBJ files and edit out the ":1 & :2" from those usemtl sections before I import them back in to Poser so that they're all consistently just what I intended the mtl to be named.

I don't think there's a way to forestall it. I tried writing a script once, but it wasn't really any easier than plain old find/replace editing.

Oh well. Thankyou. Such is life I guess.

The ":#" are because you have used "Use exact internal names except spaces" in the export options. Don't use that option, it serves no useful purpose in Poser, neither do the other options in the red box .

I'm sure that would be true if I were doing that but none of the check boxes are checked when I'm exporting.

I have saved heaps of obj files over the years, and Poser never put a :# in them. Perhaps the :# was in the obj before you saved it? In that case editing the obj is the only option.

Cool. About the only exporting I do is to PoseRay which doesn't seem to care. Are there cases when you do want any of them checked if exporting for other applications? To be honest, I never really understood what they did/were for.

I believe there are, but I don't know details, or which applications.

les--i think this started with P8. i skipped that version but it does it in PP2010 for sure, & is totally annoying, not to mention has screwed up my work flow. it does it if you spawn props too (adds :1 to both obj & material).

That explains the diffrence between my expreience and Inception8's. I'm still using P6.
Well at least my obj files save OK.
