Subject: PoserPro2010 renders but no preview

Hi guys. First off my Posers used to work perfectly. Recently I replaced my Motherboard in my pc. My IT guy told me no re-install of windows was needed. Now I have two win7 OS, 32 and 64 bit. The 32bit poser works fine, but here is the problem I have with my 64 bit poser under my 64 bit os. I load the scene, it gets halfway through loading the textures and freezes. But its not frozen. Its actually rendering. Whats weird is that there is no preview of the render happening, it just freezes on the loading texture bits. Now I cant do anything, I click on cancel and the app goes white and I have to force close. When I re-open poser and start a new render I can see the previous attempt fully rendered as the new textures for the current render is loading. And the same thing happens. Point is I cannot export the rendered image because it is always a preview of a previous render. I tried re-installing poser, but the same thing happens. Any ideas? Everything in the OS works fine its just Poser...

Leave it alone and let it render. You don't "Need" to see the preview til it's finished. If seeing the preview is so important, just run the 32 bit version. It will run on a 64 bit OS.

Thats the thing. Even when it is done it still hangs on the loading textures part. And I can't do anything. And when I click I get the spinning wheel followed by the white screen with those "wait for program to respond or close program"  msgs. Does running the 32-bit ver. of poser under win764 restrict itself to 3gb ram? If so then its pointless. I do some big scenes that only the 64bit poser can render because it uses all my ram.

Hrm... Well I only HAVE 3 gig's of ram on my system so I can't say what it would do with more ram. I do get a similar apparent freeze when the 64 bit version renders but it's usually just a freeze of the preview window and progress bar but when it's done rendering the progress bar goes away and there's my image. Is all of your memory good and is it all the same? IE: Speed, Brand etecetra... Wish I could help you more but this does sound like a memory handling issue and you have more on your system than I do.

My ram hasn't changed. Its all the same and all in duel channel. Like I said, it worked perfectly before the motherboard swap. I used to use the 64 bit poser religiously with my 16gb of ram. Another thing is that a fresh install of poser didnt help. Maybe its the OS, but everything else works fine. Guess its just one of those things. My only other option is to re-install my 64bit os. Shouldnt take long, but I am trying to prevent that. This only started after the motherboard swap, so maybe there is some clashing going on with the old mboard drivers. But its weird because my 32bit os is fine...

FYI, Memory can go bad when you change Motherboards if it encounters any static while being transfered. Don't just assume it's good memory because it worked before. Download some good memory testers and check it. There should be some free ones findable by google.

But wouldnt memory not pick up if it was bad? Because my windows registers all 16mb of it. And my other apps like blender and vue works fine and they use alot of ram when doing big scenes. It just doesnt make sense. But I will test it anyways.

It sound like problem related to OpenGL in preview.  Try switch preview mode to SreeD (control alt S) and see if problem go away.  Can approach different if so.
