Hi,

Is there a way to import textures into view? Do they have to be .mat or can I take any texture from any 3d program and import into Vue?

Thanks for any insight on this.

Depends on what you are using them for and if your version does import?  Try right-clicking a cube and choosing Edit Material.  Then go to the Color & Alpha tab and choose mapped picture.  Then click the tiny icon to the left of the trashcan icon under the black preview square and choose your texture image.  I mostly use JPG files.

Now the fun part.  To the right is the Mapping mode.  Try faces (or flat sometimes) to see if the texture made it onto your cube.  Automatic is (most of the time) for UV mapped objects that are expecting a textured UV image you exported from a modeling program.

ADDED:

Automatic seems to work on Vue cube primitives.

you can not import procedural textures from other programs unless they are UV mapped and baked to an object though....

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the help. I'll try a few things and see what I can find. I have a ton of textures from other programs and it would be great to utilize them here. I'll update this thread shortly.

Thanks again,
