I'm doing a scene in my movie on an alien planet and would love to have a Harryhausen monster walk through, like the Cyclops or Ymir. I know this is a long shot but are there any models based on his creations?

None that I’m aware of, but you could do a fall back homage ala clash of the titans with a patina covered bronze statue..   I think in Titans it was Achilles as a simply huge monster statue because they exploited a weakness on his ankle and caused the statue to weaken and break.

If not Daz makes a troll if I recall, looks sort of in the same line as allot of Harryhausen's work.. Or a V4 with creature morphs to make a harpy..

Im told it might have been Jason and the Argonauts with the giant greek styled statue.. but the point is valid, hope it helps.

I always liked the skeletons in Jason and the Argonauts....

I just watched Jason about a week ago. The statue of the Titan looks really cool. My person favorites is the skeleton warriors.  But the flying harpies are perhaps the coolest and scariest looking!

Here is someone doing it but it isn't ready yet. Was hoping for Yamir, Cyclops, Kraken or harpies

Get in touch with Sixus1 over on RuntimeDNA, he likes doing monsters of all sorts.

He's recently done a whole slew of Lovecraft inspired creepies so Harryhausen would be right up his alley. :D

You might be able to get a close approximation of one of those monsters by combining the Cyclops for Freak 3, with Freaky Devils for Freak 3, with the Horn Pack... This would give you a one eyed, rhino horned, cloven footed creature very close to the cyclopian troglodyte (the exact movie escapes me, I think it was one of the synbad movies).  You would still need to do a little creative texture mixing from there.  Of course, theres always the classic Skeleton (easily established with the Daz M3 or M4 skeleton and a sword.  The thing with Harryhausen's creatures, I always concidered the classic trademark more in the way they moved - which of course is not entirely realistic due to the limitations of stop motion photography - but to emulate that movement style in CGI with the specific intent of a tribute to Harryhausen I think would be a very cool project.

Hope this was helpful

DAZ3D Troll does have a cyclop package.

that might work, but IMHO using the Freak 3 Cyclops in combination with Freaky Devils for the cloven feet would get a much closer aproximation to the classic Harryhausen Cyclops. Or I believe there is a set for the Freak 4 that has the cloven legs, and that there is also a cyclops morph for Freak 4.

Thanks for the cyclops suggestions guys, but I'm looking for a version of Ray Harryhausen's cyclops, I'm trying to give a nod to him in my film...if not his cyclops one of his other creations.
