The strangest thing has happened. Whatever camera I use (in Poser 4), the moment I lightly move any of the camera controls (not the dials) the object vanishes from my screen. I have figured that the camera dollies rapidly along the minus-x dimension when the controls are budged. Does anyone have any experience of this, or ideas?

Thanks, but I don't know wether I understood you. I pressed the Spacebar both before and during loading an object, to no avail.

I must have lost a file, and resolved this problem by copying everything from another computer. All is now well. Moral, not exactly original, but: always back up.

This "penomenom" usually occurs after viewing videos (.wmv, .avi, or other).
If you press the spacebar (while in Poser) after the camera goes goofy and then reset all the camera's parameters back to resonable values, the problem should have been corrected.

now if I could figure out why P8 seems to turn all my cameras into the main camera, I'd be happy...;)
