Please forgive me, I am having a major stupidity attack. I am using some Baumgarten enterprises 3ds objects. I import them into Poser, texture them, and then save the obj file for use in Bryce. However, the textures are not being saved correctly. I first thought it was a Bryce 7 problem, but I was wrong. When I re-import that obj file in Poser, the whole thing has the same texture. What is it I am doing wrong?

If you put all the textures into the same file as the object they should import into Bryce with the model.

In UVMapper pro, the materials show on the exported object.
If I re-import the object file into Poser, the Mat zones are gone.
The attached image illustrates what happens. The object on the left was exported and re-imported into Poser.

Yes. I meant folder.. Sorry..
Try putting the textures into the model folder before you apply them in Poser, then export the model back to that folder.

the obj export should create a mtl file. That contains the material definitions that another app would use. Any node based textures will be lost. Only colors and omage maps are retained.
The image map names are usually just the name , no path , so they need to be in the same folder as the obj file for bryce to find them.
You can open the mtl file with any text editor to see what files are specified.

check your export options. you are saying yes to groups and group names etc?

Yes, I had them in the same folder, and yes I was ticking the group options.
Here is the strangest thing: Importing these 3ds files into either Blender or Max and then exporting them as obj files, then texturing the obj files in Poser and exporting them again, results in the textures being retained. I don't understand why this should be the case, but it is a workaround.
