I wanted to point out a new FREE hair that is really a wonderful work of art. It's been advertised over at DAZ and comes in a package for the M4 Freak. The modeler is JC Soto. The package contains a morph for the Freak to make him look like the "Beast" from the old CBS TV series "The Beauty and the Beast". The morph is pretty amazing, but I work mainly with V4. I was surprised to find the hair is included in the package and has fits for various other characters including V4 and various color options. I did scale it a little to fit the model shown.

Thanks

Is there a morph to shorten it?

That could be done with a transmap probably easier.

i hope someone will give it a try.

This is what SteveJax was talking about.
Take the transparency image file for the hair and in some type of software, move the bottom edge of the map up. Make sure the overall size of the paper or image is not changed and also make sure the image is black from the bottom of the paper to the new bottom edge of the new map. Save that under a new name and load that file in place of the transparency image loaded for the hair. It will yield something like the render I'll post in a minute. I'd post the new transparency image file but I don't own SOTO's original map. Anyway, you'd probably like to do it to other maps too.
I've had an idea on how to do this with a shader, but it didn't work out. I may start a new thread asking the experts here what I did wrong.
Good luck

This hair looks better when you add node to specular value. Add math function step connected to transmap.
shuy posted Fri, 01 April 2011 at 2:24 AM
Left - render with default materials
Right - TransparencyFalloff = 1, Specular value = 1 => "add" => transmap

Nice one. Just not enough chaotic hair out there..

Thanks JC Soto!! Thanks for telling us Mark!! I would have ignored this, since it's primarily for male figures. I'm glad it comes with female fits. I really like the long hairstyle!!
