is this normal ?
what mistake have i done? will adjusting the yTran solved the problem?
i intend to make some clothing comforming , will this affect the conform later ?
any advise would be apprecaited.

Use the "drop to floor' off the top figure menu. (I think its there. )
If the figure stays where it is switch to wireframe and look for any out of place polys.
Adjusting ytran in BODY will work too.
You may be able to move the figures origin to correct this.
Either your original mesh was not located on the floor or it moved during rigging.
Moving the figure wont affect conform, if the conformer and figure use the same rig.

thanks markscum.
its strange, i use the " drop to floor " and there is no response !
when i apply a walk pose to it , the feet is walk properly touching to ground.
but when i try adjusted the yTrans so that the feet touch the ground , and apply the walk pose again, the feet walk and penetrate the ground .
you mentioned " You may be able to move the figures origin to correct this. " , is this ny moving the yTrans of the " body " ?
thanks

Ctrl+D, isd the drop to ground shortcut.
I would look at the mesh.
If Ctrl+D leaves the figure "floating", a loose lost point must be touching the ground from somewhere.
Did you hide the feet to put the shoes on??
Feet touching ground???
Just guessing.

yup, drop to floor stops when any vertex of the object is at the ground plane. If that leaves it floating try wireframe to see if any point is out of place.
The walk pose working correctly is odd. Is the figure zeroed ? if the legs are slightly bent that would maybe give that effect.

Also check the Y-tran and Y-scale of the hip. That's usually why my custom characters float.

If you 'Import' the base obj file for your figure, are its feet on the ground?
If so, then the problem is in the cr2. If not, then the problem is in the obj file.
davedoo posted Wed, 11 May 2011 at 10:40 PM
Ctrl+D didn't work :(
i checked and no stray polys floating anywhere.
the only possibility that it could be the problem druing the obj import .
in this case any way to fix it. if i let it be ...will it be cause any problems ?
davedoo posted Wed, 11 May 2011 at 10:48 PM
is this causing the problem, should it be set to 0 ?
i'm re-uisng the JamesCasual rig for my figure and noticed that the
yTrans for JamesCasual is NOT zero too? howecome ?

If you imported the base obj file, and that still won't drop to the floor, then there must be a stray polygon somewhere.
With P6 they introduced "GoalCenterOfMass" and "CenterOfMass" props into the figures, and if they got included in base geometry it could cause the problem, though from the image you posted they don't seem to be there. Was that the figure or the obj in your image?
Quote - i noticed the yTrans for the HIP is not 0 . is this causing the problem, should it be set to 0 ?
Normally with the BODY yTran set to zero, the hip yTran should be whatever puts the feet on the floor in the default pose. In Poser you can use Memorize Figure, then save the figure back to a palette to bake the change in.

I doubt it will have any affect on conforming clothing, so long as the clothing is modelled around the base mesh in its zeroed position. The only problem that I can think of, apart from Drop to Floor not working, is that it may have consequences for using the figure in the walk designer. If this is only for your own use, then you can probably live with it, but if it is for distribution, I feel that you should fix the Drop to Floor problem.
If the base obj drops to the floor correctly, and the problem only happens for the figure, then the problem might be caused by a ghost actor, or invisible body-handle. If the obj will not respect Drop to Floor, then there is definitely some part of the mesh which is below the feet. What we need to know before further progress can be made is, will the base obj Drop to Floor?

thanks for your help.
yes, it was the figure i'm talking in the attached image.
looks like no stray polys .
i think my only solution is to manually adjust the hip 'yTrans' to lower
the feet to touch the ground. should be work right ?

maybe i missed it what sofytware did U use to model?

i use modo all the time to import into poser without problem.
this is the first time the figure hang in the air but could be
due to during the rigging that i've accidentally move the yTrans .
davedoo posted Sat, 14 May 2011 at 5:33 AM
or can i just import the obj into modo and delete the stray points and export back.
if i let it be, is that ok. this figure is not for redistribution and its for a client.
thanks!
