Subject: Figures not loading in Poser 8

I've posted this in a couple of other forums but so far no one has been able to help me.

I have a few figures, Spinebender is the first one that comes to mind, that won't load in Poser 8. When I double click, or click the "add to scene" button, nothing loads.

I've tried un-installing the content and even did a complete un-install/re-install of Poser (which took a LONG time, so I'm not ready to do that again), but still nothing.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

No problem with my copy.

What are the others that don't load (it might be possible to spot a pattern) ?

What OS ?

What's the full version number of your P8 ?

Let's look at your OS first.  Chances are if you are running Vista or Windows 7, you might be encountering access issues.  More details will help.

You're right...I'm running Windows 7 and I didn't have that problem on my old machine, but I was also running Poser 6, not 8, so I didn't make the connection. Know anyway around it?

If it is the Poser-in-Program Files Folder scenario, then UAC will deny certain write back procedures in an effort to prevent malware and virus infections to primary software apps.  Ways to overcome UAC is either turning it off completely (not adviceable), giving yourself higher authorization on the app level, or reinstalling Poser into it's own folder on the core drive.

I might also add that the location of your content may have a bearing on how UAC responds to Poser usage.  One of the choices for installing P8 content is your My Documents folder, which steers clear from the Program Files folder and authorization issue.

That's my problem then. I have it installed in the (x86) program file & I get a "not authorized" error message whenever I try to un-zip a file directly into Poser. I'm not sure how to give myself a higher authorization, but I'm sure I can Google something.

Thanks for all of your help.
