I'm looking for something specifically for V4. I want to create an animation or a series of still images with V4 wearing her hair in a ponytail (pulled back) and then gradually "letting it all hang out", into a free falling cascade of loose hair. I know I might have to use two hair props/figures but I haven't found anything specifically for V4 that even comes close to doing what I want to do.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, and I'd rather not use dynamic hair.
Thanks,
Lee

The easiest, less time consuming path would likely be hire a model and motion photography... I don't think you are going to get realistic results otherwise without using dynamics.

I'm pretty sure one of the 3Dream/Mairy hair which is longish has a pull back morph. It's not exactly a ponytail but it might do what you want and this way you won't have to use two different hair props and try to match them up.
IIRC it's the Bandua Hair http://www.daz3d.com/i/shop/itemdetails/?item=9364

You can try asking this vendor if his magnet system will do that. I've tried his breast control system to some effect. Unless you want to do a number of morphs, and since you don't want to do dynamic, I'd be looking at magnets first.

I would just look for a good free fall hair.
Then depending on the Poser version, use magnets, or the morph brush, to push the mesh into a Ponytail.
The band around the ponytail hair can easily be made from a prop.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll check them out and see what I can find!

Thanks again everyone for the suggestions.
And thank you Kalypso, the Bandua hair was exactly what I was looking for. It even matches the styles I had been previously using for my character (using two different hair models), but now I can make the changes gradual AND without having to change hair figures.
Funny thing is, I had already purchased this product a while back and totally forgot I had it. I guess I bought and downloaded it without ever trying it out. I do that sometimes.
Anyway, thanks again, I appreciate your help.

there isa thing and I think it is here in the MP called total hair control
It's by Kaposer.
with this item you can apply the magnets that move the hair around and I suspect this would do exactly the job you need.

Good news about the Bandua hair! I purchased it some time ago, loaded it so I could have a look and have not used it yet either hehe.

And then there is dynamic hair and wind dynamics.

I never got into dynamic hair and clothing. They take too long to render, and as my wife loves to point out constantly, I'm not a patient man.
Actually I wouldn't mind using dynamic hair for a single render, but usually my work involves online comics or animation requiring lots and lots of renders. I would go insane!

I tried to do some panels for my comic with a group of 6 vickies or more wearing dynamic clothes ad it nearly drove me insane - over a week with no panels made!
