I use PoserPro2010 and understand posing. Thought I'd try an animation. Got one done, but in places the transition from one position to another is jerky. I'd like to be able to add in frames here and there, and gradually move the figure so that I get a smoother series of movements.

 

Is there a way to add frames? Believe me, I have checked the Tutorial Manual and the Poser Pro Reference Manual. They do cover animation, but nowhere do I find adding frames. Keyframes, yes. But I want just frames.

 

Can anyone help me?

Have you studied Dr. Geep's animation tutorial? It should help you get smoother animations without adding frames.

the way pro animators often do it is to start over, after they find out from the rough animatic (what you just did) how many frames they actually need.  then apply the key poses you are already using at the new properly-spaced key frames.  this can be done in some video editors, e.g. adobe CSX, where one duplicates an existing frame 10 or 20 times to space it out, but I dunno how to insert frames like that in PP2010.

If you have spare frames at the end you can just select the frames you need to move , and then drag them over however many frames you need. It gets tedious if you want to add frames in many places.

Add more frames to the end of the animation, then in the Keyframe Editor, draw a selection box around all the  frames from the point you want the extra frames and drag the box to the right to create the desired amount of new frames at that point. Poser may take a long time to move the frames if it is a complex scene.

Well, thank you for these tips. I'm going to try to apply these. I'll let you know what happened.
