Hi folks. I can't install that damned Hiro 4. I tell you my history.

-Poser8 installed in primary partition C:

-Downloads runtime installed in secondary partition E:

Running the installer I select E:Poser (as I did with V4, M4, etc). But I get this message: 'When used with Poser TM, "Hiro 4 Base" must be installed to the same directory as the application executable; due to restrictions on support file locations

Please select the directory that contains your Poser executable"

So I select C:Program filesSmith MicroPoser 8; and then that stupid installer says: "Dependency error: The required file has NOT been found. Installation of Hiro 4 Base will now quit". And closes

THE EXECUTABLE FILE IS THERE!!! IDIOTIC PROGRAM!!! :cursing:

Tips...? :crying:

Copy your Poser.exe and paste it in your E:Poser.   It needs to see a poser executable before installing.  Oh make sure the Poser.exe is outside the Runtime folder.

The program does not have to see a copy of poser.exe - any file - even an empty text file - called poser.exe will work.

Why they have not changed the installers is ... inexcusable really. They're being obnoxious about this. Nobody wants to put their Daz content in Smith Micro's runtime. It's been three years since this behavior had any justification. Moreover, the program many of us buy and use now is not even called that. It's PoserPro.exe.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

I think the dependency error is that it is also looking for "blMilMan_m4b.obj" in the runtime:geometries folder

Well, the trick worked and I have my Hiro 4 working. A discussion about how DAZ3D designs its installers is a different mess and ... the Neverending Story
