This is a couple of months old.. I will go out for a new one soon.  I believe the lines work.

A graveyard, no markers but one small eroded stone I saw.  The fence preserves the heritage and dignity of recognition that people are buried here.  Slaves and paid servants of local agricultural businesses found this a final home.

Another photo was likely posted a few months ago with different pov.

And as for the photo stock... you CAN use from your archive, but we prefer you take new pictures for the challenge. The point is to try new things thats why its a "challenge" haha but this is an amazing archive shot and a great addition to this months forum.

Now my third, among other possibilities, I chose an unusual shot among the reeds of bamboo, situated next to Charterhouse Farneta (overview posted in December)

The Elephant Fountain is a monument built between 1735 and 1737 by the architect Giovanni Battista Vaccarini. It is located in the center of the Piazza del Duomo in Catania. Its main element is a statue of black basalt depicting an elephant, commonly called "u Liotru" and considered the emblem of Catania.
On the back is an Egyptian obelisk of granite, 3.66 meters high.

If I may add this image...it was taken back in May at Tenerife (Canary Islands) on a beautiful morning (as usual !). These are the chimneys (for AC I guess, 'cause they never heat the rooms there...) of a Sheraton hotel. Some postwork in Photoshop (hue and light). Have a good week.

kgb224 posted Mon, 25 July 2011 at 11:17 AM

Love your upload gaius.

Perfect for this challenge.

@ gaius I agree with kgb224 and Lashia. Perfect and great lines!  Congrats on LWIG!

gaius posted Tue, 26 July 2011 at 7:32 AM

@Lashia and myrrhluz : thank you so much...I was on the terrace of my (cheaper !) hotel at Costa Adeje, looking at these chimneys and thinking "there is a photo ! there is a photo..." When I got back home, I was not very pleased with the photos....but after almost two months (as usual !), I said to myself "this one is not too bad".

dochtersions posted Tue, 26 July 2011 at 9:39 AM

LOL Gaius : "not too bad"!
Perfect verticals, my friend, also on those 'windows' in it.

Gonzojr, I very much like all those verticals, captured on that stunning bridge-picture.

gaius posted Tue, 26 July 2011 at 11:14 AM

@dochtersions : thanks Mies, I appreciate. I agree with you gonzojr's photo is excellent.

@kgb224 : thanks much...thanks to you and to the other participants I really feel welcome.

I found another "vertical lines" photo taken back in 2006 in England. This photo, let's call it "Pencils", was taken in the playground of a primary school, where ? I can't remember, maybe not too far from Nottingham.

kgb224 posted Tue, 26 July 2011 at 12:48 PM

Excellent capture gaius. love the pencils. I imagine this is a fence.

God Bless.

@ dochtersions : thanks Mies, I'm glad you like it...you should spend some time in France and visit this bambouseraie which is magnificent and very popular (it's crowded in the summertime !).

@ mariogiannecchini : thanks much. To be true, I'm impressed by the quality of your photos...and there are bamboos too where you live !

mariogiannecchini posted Wed, 27 July 2011 at 7:21 AM

Thank you, Gaius, those bamboo 'are close to a beautiful place, the Charterhouse of rants about ten miles from my house There conosiamo directly, but this can be remedied. They were beautiful amche preedenti other, but are not able to complete the review for a block on internet forums. Best regards.

Excellent shots, Moonriser!  I love bridges.  How interesting to see the gap between the two tracks and the uneven planks.  Great POVs!

Excellent photos , Moonriser and very good scan ! Good day !

gaius posted Thu, 28 July 2011 at 4:04 AM

@ kgb224 and myrrhluz : thanks so much. I decided to post this "bamboos" photo because of the green vertical lines within the vertical lines of the bamboos.

@ Mooriser : congratulations, these shot are great (but beware of the trains !).

dochtersions posted Thu, 28 July 2011 at 5:30 AM

Hi moonriser, I agree with the others, great depth and POV on all three of them.

moonriser posted Thu, 28 July 2011 at 6:01 AM

Thank you for your comments!:)

This is my return from digital photography to the negative:)Now I am looking for a good light meter.

The railway line currently supports 2-3 trains a day.
Rather, it is difficult to hit on a moving train.

LoneyBones posted Wed, 07 September 2011 at 5:52 AM

Great challenge subject, and some great images so far.

First for me, a fairly common subject for my city of Cairns, Australia. But always worthy of another shot...or two...hundred. ;-)

Leonie.

Stunning capture Leonie.

LoneyBones posted Wed, 07 September 2011 at 6:35 AM

Thank you, :-)

For my next entry... ah, turning around and looking back inland, this is one of our foreshore sculptures. I'm sure it has a name, but I couldn't find it. A tube made of copper tubes, very well matched with the palm trees around it.

LoneyBones posted Wed, 07 September 2011 at 6:40 AM

My last for this chalenge was an experiment in light.

The subject is a knitted shawl with coloured metalic threads woven into black mohair. I let my camera focus fall just a little as I opened then closed the shutter. I think this is what cosmic rain might look like. :-)

Leonie.

dochtersions posted Wed, 07 September 2011 at 8:24 AM

Fantastic captures, Leonie!

I like also the shadow-lines in the water, as that special tree; and I just love your 'cosmic rain' :)

Greetings,
Mies.

BTW, is there another challange for this month (Sept.)?
No hurry for me, but maybe I missed this information.
