Am I the last to know? Was signed on, changed a screen, got a completely different look, then it came back to something like I had it - sort of. Change can be good. Sometimes.

You must not read the homepage. They've been reporting this change for a while now.

It's good that they brought up stuff higher on the page. I thought too much stuff was "below the fold" in the old design and I would often miss things that I would normally be interested in but didn't have time to scroll down to find.

I leave for Breakfast, and the place has changed. 😊

I like the new look, especially that I can scroll to the top and directly click the Top of Forum link....

EDIT  I can't recall the last time I visited the Home Page-I have the Forum bookmarked directly, so the change was a pleasant surprise...

Errr ... you also WandW!  It looks like some consideration went into it.  Of course, I'm sure some one(s) will protest.  But it wouldn't be Rosity if they didn't, LOL!

tokejr ( ) posted Thu, 07 July 2011 at 11:41 AM

I like it. It's much cleaner, more vibrant colors and not such a drastic change that you can't find your way around.  It's very inviting.

I'm happy to see the battle ship grey-blue gone.

Acadia ( ) posted Thu, 07 July 2011 at 11:44 AM

The blue is garish and bright! And the different blues don't even go together to give a pleasing appearance.  And the grey doesn't match any of the other colours and looks like a sore thumb just stuck in there to fill space.

There have been a number of complaints about these colours in beta, yet here it is released without having listened to a word anyone has said!!!! Typical!

If they insist on keeping th ese garish colours, then they need to at least give skin options to those who physically can't tolerate looking at the brightness of certain colour combinations together.

Yes, the blue is very unconfortable.

And, perhaps it is me, but I think all the forum seems smaller.

"I'm happy to see the battle ship grey-blue gone."

I think this is not the problem, in my opinion it is just that some colors can be used like a web general background color, and that blue is one of them, like red, orange, yellow, green ...

Wow, I thought the site had been hacked. I love the color blue but I HATE this design. It's so poorly done. I mean, look at the menu bar. It's like something a designer would make on their first attempt at a site. I like the new logo but everything else is so garish and ill-suited to a website about ART and DESIGN.

SamTherapy ( ) posted Thu, 07 July 2011 at 1:44 PM

It's definitely blue.

The menu bar(s) are bad and they should be together, not split by a banner and an ad.

Hmmm... the blue does not seem too bright to my eyes at all. It looks quite classy and more up to date. I'm viewing it with a new nicely calibrated monitor. I would suggest checking your monitor settings. Perhaps they are not set properly. It's a long standing complaint of mine that some Poser and DAZ users must have too bright monitor settings as their renders are often too dark - a result of setting lights for a scene on a too bright monitor.

Quoted for complete agreement.

Even though I have an old CRT it's reasonably well set up but boy am I tired of the "Black Cat in a Coal Cellar at Midnight" renders.

of course, everyone's eyes are different. I have 3 properly setup monitors here, and after about 10 minutes the white/grey on blue is to much. but with the Firefox addon to over-ride the RO colours to my choice - black, grey and white - I find the layout more to my taste and eye's.

LaurieA ( ) posted Thu, 07 July 2011 at 2:53 PM

The old blue/gray was nice. The new screaming cyan blue is not. And no, my monitor isn't too bright ;).

Which Firefox Addon would that be? Not that I have a problem with these colors but I might find it useful for other websites.

And here I thought it was just me. Thank you, Acadia. I find it odd that on what is ostensibly an artistic site, colours can mean so little that they be thrown together haphazardly like this. At least the old colour schemes worked, sort-of... even if they were a bit dull.

Yeah, even that other site (Daz3d) gives you at least some skin options...

There isn't one that I can find. However, the current forum colors are the old forum colors and those I can deal with. The rest of the site however, I've sent to black ;).

Netherworks ( ) posted Thu, 07 July 2011 at 5:16 PM

Yes, it's very blue.  It doesn't bother me but I'd like too see the blue with a lot more grey in it so that it feels more "neutral" especially when viewing art.

I can't say too much though... My site is brown but I find the earthy tones like that very comfortable.

It is not monitor fault at all, a little of common sense, electric blue is not good election for the background color, just tell me one site around the net (serious web) that have that color as a general background.

One thing is make something different and other make your users, go out every 5 minutes or loose their eyes, and I am not exaggerating at all

If I had the proper plugin, can those .css overrides be (easily) shared?

(Though the text size in the Reply box is teeny here and I'd also like to up that a bit :) )

I think you can change the text size in the CSS (which is in the CSS forum for anyone to copy and paste). The FF addon can change the colors but not change the font sizes.

Laurie's version looks much, much better.

This blue background is really hard for eyes. Not only it looks kind of (sorry to say it) cheap and unprofessional, but it's invasive and distracts from other content. Background color should be neutral and strong, vibrant colours used only in spots.

I really hope this colour scheme will be changed.

And all day and all night and everything he sees
Is just blue like him inside and outside
Blue is his house with a blue little window
And a blue corvette
And everything is blue for him and hisself
And everybody around
Cos he ain't got nobody to listen to

I'm blue da ba dee da ba die...

I have a blue house with a blue window.
Blue is the colour of all that I wear.
Blue are the streets and all the trees are too.
I have a girlfriend and she is so blue.
Blue are the people here that walk around,
Blue like my corvette, it's standing outside.
Blue are the words I say and what I think.
Blue are the feelings that live inside me.

I'm blue da ba dee da ba die...

Very distracting.

Just my humble opinion though.

Hope they take the Beta viewers complaints to heart and make a colour change. sighhh

The rest of the layout is very nice indeed.

Yes, that would be a good option actually.  I created a css override but it doesn't work by simply entering it into "My CSS".  You'd have to be willing to edit/add a userContent.css file or use the Stylish plugin for Firefox.  As far as Opera, Chrome and IE go, don't really know.

what is this font I am  seeing in  menu bar, etc .... -  like arial  or something?

very chunky, clunky. plain goofy.

I dont think  that  what  we are doing here is creating a dogpile bash thread, either.  I think  Rosity really should consider its membership  and what  the aspects of the  site are that appeal  to  its members . and i think  that obviously job number one is to  create a place that people can  relate to , and a place that  reflects what  they want.  this is really kind of trite and commercial looking.  this site is all  about  identity and self image of its members  for chrissake  it would do wonders just to  load up  the old design. nothing personal  here against the designer . maybe they  just did not consider that.

my  2 cents.

S

P. S. I am not so sure I like the colour schema my retinas they are ablaze with stinging fire, yes?
