Please report any bugs you might see with the new site in this thread. I would like to reserve this thread for technical, bug type issues not preferences or opinions on the colors or "look".
Thank you

My CSS stylesheet is no longer working. All it does is increase the width to full screen, but now I have a narrow page.
StaceyG posted Thu, 07 July 2011 at 9:51 AM
Those stylesheets are done by the user so you probably need to go post in the CSS stylesheet forum for helping on creating one that you like for the new site.
Thanks

I'm afraid that telling me to go to the CSS forum ,which has been dead for years, is not a very good response to my report that CSS stylesheets are no longer working. This is a bug in the new set-up.

It's only been dead, because there was nothing to work on. Now that there is something to work on, there will be posts (starting with the forum stylesheet).

The stylesheet option is there for you to use if you prefer by making your own CSS stylesheet with your own preferences outside of the normal functioning layout of the site. Changes we make to the actual layout of the site can mess up your custom made css that you made. Due to the new site layout you will have to go create a new css with what you prefer as we cannot possibly account for all the different css stylesheets that each indivdual user might have written and make them backwards compatible unfortunately.
StaceyG posted Thu, 07 July 2011 at 1:05 PM
Yes just as users helped each other in the past if they preferred to use a custom CSS, the same will hold true with this site change

But it would be nice if the style information was full contained in the stylesheet rather than also scattered in the HTML, and if some CSS keywords weren't disabled by mangling certain strings, which because of the way it's being done causes other problems.
dadt posted Thu, 07 July 2011 at 1:35 PM
It would also be useful if you could read the standard stylesheet which is displayed in pale grey on a pale grey background.

Stacey,
I do not want to have to change the size every time I post. I did not have to do so before. And this whole thing is giving me a massive headache.
The drop down boxes that have New items, or Gallery choices, or other "features. It is a long black box that contains these items. In order to view it entire you have to scroll down from the side bar and HOPE that it fits into your screen.
I use FF.
Seriously, it looks very cheap and first "site" built looking. Everything is too large and crowded. I honestly remember having a flash (*and it alternated slowly, not like some of the new banners that are up) banner pulled because it bothered someone who had epilepsy. Well I am diabetic and this makes me ill to my stomache. The site used to look classy.

Hi Stacey!
After I showed you the screenshot.... I went to my gallery later to see if anything had been done. I had my gallery options fixed to see all images at full screen a long time ago. Now it is not even like the screenshot I showed you. They fixed it so it looks smaller and you are still forced to click on the image to see it full size. In other words, they over rode my gallery options to see the image full size.
Do you know what I mean? lol It sounds so complicated, but it's not really.

END THE HIJACKING! You are deleting links back to previously viewed pages. Once I go into RR I can no longer go back further than the RR page, which is a universally condemned practice. IT WILL MAKE ME STOP POSTING TO THIS SITE, AND POSSIBLY TAKE MY FRIENDS WITH ME. This is not just happening on my computer, so don't tell me it is not being deliberately done.
The new page layout is bad in my opinion; change for the sake of change. Bad colors too. I need to find things again like I have just started on this site, which makes me think that perhaps that is what I should do, but with a different site.

Whatever page you are on will be grey instead white and it won't be a link just like it was in the old site so you know what page you are on. Is that what you are referring to? Let me know if not so I can get more details and see what we can do:)

Due to the user stylesheet being deliberately restricted, the header size problem is only really fixable with a GreaseMonkey script.

Not a bug, but I have to state that this is an art site and it's supposed to be pretty to look at, and at the same time professional looking.
With this new site change it is neither.
There are so many blue tones that go nicely together and co-ordinate with one another. I'm aghast that someone found the 4 shades of blue that do not compliment each other in any way shape or form. The blue tones do not go together at all. They clash horridly.
And to keep the old grey tones for the forum list? What was that about? It doesn't go with any of the blue tones and looks like that part of the site was just abandoned.

I hope this isn't "as designed", but it seems that the Live Chat box does not appear on the front page if no one is in the chat. The only way I could enter the chat was by opening up the article that talks about the chat room.
Suffice to say, when that article goes away from the front page, there would be no other way to access the chat unless someone is in. It's hard to get people into using a feature if accessing it is going to be difficult.

There are add-ons for FF that will help, but even so it's more effort than most people can be bothered with for areas they don't spend much time in.
For the front page the colours aren't really the problem, for that it's the content and layout.
The situation for the RMP is similar, but the colours will have some effect, the consequences of which the merchants will bear.

I agree with Kim. It is nearly impossible to tell what page you are on. The slightly lighter colored font is not enough when it is being displayed over a gradiant background.
Has anyone written a hack, similar to those the last change prompted, to change that distractive blue background to a more muted tone?
Blue is fine in the forum pages and home page but please consider that a person walking into a real world gallery would never see bright blue walls behind displayed art. It tricks the eyes and makes color discernment within the image very unfair to the art.
Programmers need to be aware of color wheel basics better, imho.

Regarding the left hand table cell width. After my post pointing out that it was too wide, the width of this cell has decreased from about 273 to about 223 pixels. Are the programmers blind? I'm not certain but I though the maximum avatar width was 130 pixels. So why is the cell taking up so much realestate that could be better used for the posts? Surely a cell width of the maximum avatar width plus 10 pixels would be adequate! If the maximum avatar is 130, then the cell width could be 140 pixels, this would also allow a user name of 18 characters without wrapping, which is surely enough. Even if the maximum avatar was 150, that would only need a cell of 160 pixels.

Well the cell is sytled with a width of 150 pixels.
The problem is that for some reason (which I haven't completely figured out yet) FF is expanding that cell.
It would appear to be something to do with the message cell not being wide enough.
I had to set it's width to 90% in my stylesheet to stop the avatar cell growing beyond what's necessary, as no variation of sizing the avatar cell itself would work.

Are you using FF or another browser? The techs are aware of this as it has been reported and they are looking into it
Thanks

Everything seems to work fine for me and I've gotten used to the color change. I go to so many sites that different looks stopped bothering me ages ago, unless they are just too awful to take, which this certainly is not.
I'm having more or less the same issue as lesgraham, though, in that I keep getting signed off. usually after just a few minutes of no clicking, i.e., as little as 5-7 minutes, but seems to be more around 8-10 (I know, big difference). I use tabs a lot, so jumping from site to site doesn't "take me away" from Rosity per se, but this is kind of annoying, having to continuously re-log in.
I'm on Win 7 Pro, Firefox latest and find no provisions in My Profile to effect a change to "stay logged on". This issue did not exist for me before the new change.
And . . . I can live with it, LOL!
But now you know.
Thanks.

In the above screen capture (FireFox 3.6.18, Win2k) the poster has embedded an off-site image, and this forces the cell that contains to post to assume a greater than normal width. This bug also existed previously, but now the new add panel on the right occludes part of the text and graphics. The post can't be read. I suggest that the cell that contains the graphic should have a limited width, to prevent this problem.
The URL captured in the above image is:

It's worse than I thought. Even the text not covered by the add runs off the edge of the page without wrapping!
lesbentley posted Tue, 12 July 2011 at 3:52 AM
These issues predate the latest site changes, but it would be really nice if they fixed the Reply Box Editor so that the FireFox spell-check worked in the editor. like it used to do before they "fixed" (broke) the editor!
Also text placed in 'pre' tags now comes out with double line spacing. This is very bad, as pre tags are usually used for code snippets.
lesbentley posted Tue, 12 July 2011 at 9:02 AM
The length of the string in the 'Location' field affects the width of the avatar table cell. The maximum length for this string seems to be 39 characters. If all characters in the string are used, this gives a width for the cell of approximatelly 289 pixels. Perhaps it would be a good idea to restrict the width of the cell to 145 pixels and allow the Location string to wrap?

Marketplace product pages cannot be viewed in Firefox 5. It appears that this is due to some tracking pixel you are using:
http://tracking.searchmarketing.com/welcome.asp?SMCID=1982&x=
What happens is the page loads briefly, then it refreshes to a totally blank screen and the browser sits there trying to load this thing. It does not alter the URL in the address bar like a page refresh, but if I use Firebug to "Inspect Element" on the blank page is shows that it is because this tracker has failed to load. It does not do it anywhere else on the site that I could find, only actual product pages. It is possible that their server sends incorrect/non standard headers that Firefox will no longer tolerate or something but I really don't know.
What I do know is that the one thing I can no longer on Renderosity is buy something. I'm not inclined to change browsers to accomodate a third party attempt to track me.

Flint, this was due to the CSS you had in your gallery options with that large font size. It was pushing the page out cause the font was so large and if the image had a long title, it caused this. I've set it back to the standard site 12px but if you need the font larger than that, you will probably continue having the issue you described above.

Your bio? You mean on your Artist page? If so it's still there, just go to the Members tab on the top navigation the Artist Page. If that isn't what you mean, you will need to be more specific so I can help you.
The logo contest won't be happening this year as in the past several ones, the participation level has been really low and we are going to try and stick with a certain branded look with our Renderosity font.

The fix is to adjust your stylesheet to include :-
body { line-height: 20px; }
The exact value you need is 4px larger than the font size you've used (unless you've also altered the top or bottom padding, in which case add the sum of the new values for those).
If you've set the font size in other units (e.g. points) then you'll have to adjust until the lines look right as there's no way to mix units.
If the line-height is set in other styles you may have to also adjust those if not everything is correct.

The gallery thumbnail was good after a refresh, the reduced size displayed corrrectly but every time I tried ot open the full size it went back to the old image. I went back into edit and it was showing the old image in that page again even while diplaying the correct thumb aqnd reduced size. Actually had to delete the whole thing and upload as new for it to finally work.
Anyone else seen this?

It's only the item number that matters, the text in the path segment after "bcs" and before the number can be anything and you'll still get the right page, e.g. -> http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/anythingcangohere/88719

Are you serious??? Should not the whole "system" have been completed before it was implimented??? Not to mention the wasted space these things are taking up? Thousands of little notices that are just sitting around. Just seems like the IT folk should have had the whole styem developed before even starting and then letting it just hang there.
I built a kitchen once, didn't see the contractor for 6 months...
Add/Remove/Delete should have been the first function installed before the switch.

This notifications system works as intended. The notifications that stay under "older events" is supposed to stay just like that. As I stated we MAY put a hide/remove option there in the future. It was completed for the gallery as intended. When I said it was still being "enhanced" I was mainly referring to other pieces that would involve seeing notifications for other areas of the site besides just gallery as well as possibly adding other things like a hide/remove if we feel it becomes necessary but it is "completed" the way it's designed to work Ariana.
When you have new events (the little color burst notifications is there showing you have new events since you last checked) and you click to go to that notifications page then you will ONLY see the events that occured since the last time you had any new events, all the rest are not shown, they are under that "Older Event" button so you don't have to see them unless you choose to click on that older event button. If you go back to that page without any NEW events then it will show the last 10 events that occurred for you and if you want to see more than the last 10 then click the older events button and it will show you even older ones and that is how it's designed to work.

Hi Stacey,
What I am getting at is the enormous waste of bandwidth these possibly millions of little notices end up taking because they are just there. Doesn't Ro have a limit of "junk" it wants to have on site like this stuff? I mean I actually removed all of my fav gallery notices to stop this mess. So now all that is there is junk that is stuck.
Please allow us to have a delete option. I mean after all, that is what we could do with the e-mails. I hate clutter.

I'm confused cause you don't see any "clutter" unless you choose to click on the older events button. The most "clutter" you will ever see without clicking for older is 10 notifications..
I mean I tend to agree with wanting to have a hide/remove button at some point and hopefully once we get all the pieces in place for all the notification areas then we can look into things like that more:)
FutureFantasyDesign posted Wed, 21 September 2011 at 11:43 PM
That sounds fair. It just is weird having that stuff! I rarely use notices, I tend to skim through my favs on my own. So notices are more like nuisances! LOL!

Ariana,
When did you remove your favorites? The batch job had an issue and hasn't run for 2 days so I know you havent' gotten any new notifications in two days. The ones you are seeing on your page (the older events) are probably ones you got before you removed artists from your favorites list correct?

FutureFantasyDesign posted Sun, 25 September 2011 at 12:47 PM
The last notice I rec'd was 4 hours ago!!!
I have 0 fav artist notifications on. Does this mean I have to actually remove ALL of my fav artists to make this stop? Stacey this is an ill concieved idea not to allow us to delete these notices, or to opt out of them all together. I don't want them at all. Weither I don't have to look at them they exist, therefore they mess with my mind!
IT should be able to install a delete or an opt out feature for gallery notices. One thing is this feature only for the galleries? Or is it also meant for site notices about sales, or special events too? Because I am not clear on that. Please don't consider this a request!!! Just asking.
I would much rather have the e-mails back. At least those can be discarded after viewing the pictures!

Okay I thought you meant you removed favorite artists altogether not just the email notification. You will still receive them because that is not based on your email settings at the current time.
I'm sorry the notifications page bothers you but it's your choice to view the notification events or not and at this current time it will remain like it is, I'm sorry.
Right now it's just for the galleries but soon it will include other notifications from other areas of the site.
FutureFantasyDesign posted Sat, 01 October 2011 at 8:46 AM
OK, I understand that this darn notices cannot be deleted.... BUT GADS PLEASE STOP THEM!
I mean I have a TON more of them and I deselected every artist I fav'd from getting notices when they post. So WHY am I getting them??? And I still have notices coming to me in the last hour!
Stacey please listen to the site members. This has to stop. If there is someone I really want to see posts, I couldn't find them because some members, even ones you have fav'd in the past, post the limit everyday! Not that that is bad. But I don't need a notice of it.
I know that you feel that these can be ignored. Well, the site should be friendly to us, not have a lot of nuisance features that we cannot modify or opt out of! I remember you made us clear out a lot of e-mail once (*and I did not want to lose all of my DM, and OOT links to my freebies), because it was creating clutter and wasting bandwidth. Well this is so much worse when multiplied by the thousands of members getting bots on gallery images!!!
I fail to see why members concerns on this is not important to RO and the team. Please reinstate the emails, because it seems that the site is getting messier and messier by the day. I want my RO to be pretty and functional! Not have a lot of geegaw junk on it. OMGDDSS!!! Can you imagine if I had linked my cell to the site notifications!? That would be a potential mess. At least with e-mails we had the ability to delete them.
OK, seriously. I love RO. But you see I am not the only one unhappy with this feature. So why is an 'OPT OUT' or 'Receive E-mails Only' not an option for us? This is a fair request. And it puts the ability to manage our accounts back into our hands where it should be. There are some artists I want to be notified of because they post rarely, but are worth viewing when they do. Then there are others that post so often it would be a full time job just to keep up!
PLEASE take this request seriously and have the IT people fix this.
In the meantime I am going to un-fav everyone of my fav'd artists and hopefully that will fix this until the site bug is repaired. This will stop the notices right?
One last thing, does these notices apply to any other feature except the galleries? I mean this is not how RO will send us other notices as well??? Please let me know on that.
Sorry for the rant, but "It exists, therefore it is angst!" or something like that.
Have a good day Stacey! (*ya know this is about the notices, not you!) :D I still wuvs ya!!!

If you use Firfox, there are numerous addons to get rid of the ads, the links and the social site links as well. NoScript and AdBlock are both very good. If you get the addon Stylish you don't even need to look at that "gag me" screaming cyan anymore ;).
