When I have a complex prop like a Bar with lots of glasses on the sheleves etc. etc and I want to move the entire structure to a new loacation, how do I do that? How can I group all the items as one moveable unit?

With the hierarchy editor, just drag the glasses into the shelf, they will be parented to shelf and move with it.

I don't think there's any way, tho, to select more than one item in Hierarchy Editor, unfortunately. Just hoping you haven't a full bar ...

If the glasses are just for show and not to be used individually , export all of them as one group (select during export) and then import and save as a single prop.

I prefer Medzinators solution. It's easy and quick. You can Drag and Drop the items in the Hierarchy Editor so it really doesn't take that long to do even with a full bar. I use it to group items all the time.

The hierachy way works great thanks. It takes a little planning but grouping them all together allows me to move them all at the same time. Thanks guys.

Hi there is also a free "parent all" Script that is Vital to my Physics simulation animations where I have hundreds of batch imported props.
you select your parent item and run the parent all py script and every thing else in the scene gets parented at once to your chosen parent
you can Save the parent and all its "children" to the prop library to be reloaded all at once at any later time.
Cheers

A link to the free script would be helpful.

Upon Further investigation i realized this Script Was Written for me on the fly by the venerable Ockham and posted in THIS THREAD
** note if you are on Windows use the first Link in the thread to the script as the second one has its syntax altered for Mac OS usage**
Cheers

Ockham has a number of great scripts

One of my favourites is "Point At". It works great for point lights that are so small you can't find them in the scene. And it's great for making eyes look at something.
