I recently (like a day ago, seriously) upgraded to Poser 8 from Daz Studio 3. While my runtimes moved over smoothly, I don't see my much beloved UberEnvironment2. Is it compatible with Poser (and if so, where the biscuits is it). Seems reasonable if it's not, I'm just curious ^^ thanks.

Get my free environment sphere. Literally thousands of Poser users use it for environmental lighting and to provide something to see in reflections in every direction.

It's just a sphere that you can load an equirectangular picture onto. You can find such pictures all over the place. HDRI ones work on it, too.
In render settings, enable IDL (Global Illumination).
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

no ds lights at all will work in Poser.
in fact Poser cannot read any file that ds produces.
BB's sphere does a great job. :)

Okay, I finally decided to give this a try. How do I turn on IDL (global illumination)? I looked in render settings and don't see the option. I'm using Poser 7.

Poser 7 does not have IDL
IDL starts from Poser8 onwards, and it is in the render settings.
With soms tricks you can "fake" IDL.
Do a search here on AO "Ambient Occlusion" and you'll find everything you need.
But IDL is far better in Posers latest versions updated with the latest SR's.

There is no actual IDL in P7 accessible through the render settings. There is, however, a script modification somewhere which can activate that feature. But it is not as effective as IDL in P8 and PP2010. Results do not look convincing.

Ah... Got it... I'm not an idiot. I'm too cheap to upgrade.

The only way to fake IDL in P7 is using IBL with light based AO, which has improved over earlier Poser versions.

To maintain the delicate balance of the universe nekkidchikken should really switch to DAZ Studio

Nope. Tried it. Didn't like it. I'm eyeing P2010 closely and haven't talked myself into the plunge. This may do it though.
