I'm sure this must pretty basic for many users here, but for me, Poser technical stuff is still rocket science, and every time I try to bring something I modelled into Poser, it invariably goes wrong, and I end up scrapping the project :(
So I made these wings - they're like a framework with a membrane (one-sided polygon). I import the frame, then the membrane, parent the membrane to the frame, then position the wing and parent it to the figure. I do this with all 4 wings, then try to save them as a smartprop - that doesn't work. Will I have to save each one separately?
I would like to be able to manipulate the wings using the rotation dials. Will I have to export each one from Poser to get the correct axis settings? If I export frame and membrane as one object, will the wing still have 2 material zones?
Lots of questions - hope some patient individual will be willing to help!

OK, exporting from Poser messes up the rotation axis...
I suck, LOL!

I'm not very good with wings but you might want to take a look at Thorne's Universal Wings 1 and 2 over in the old DAZ free archives.

If you are prepared to send me the obj files I will put together a figure for you. Here is what I would do if you want to do it yourself.
What I would do first is load a primitive ball, and scale it to be the base of the wings , so parent it to the figure and then make it non-visible in render.
Then load each wing section, position it and parent it to the ball, use the joint editor to see the center(pivot point) and set that. Use front , side and top views to position the center point. Close the joint editor when its correct.
Parent each wing section to the ball, then save the ball and answer the prompts to save the entire parented group.
Onc that is working to your satisfaction open the heirarchy editor and use the option near the bottom to make a figure of the selected prop group. Make sure the ball is the selected object.

markschum - thank you so much!
I will try to follow your instructions, but when and if I mess it up, I may just take you up on that offer ;)
