Okay everybody, here's the new DITI for the week!

Click on the photograph in order to save it in its largest available format.

This is straight out the camera, so have at it!  Serious postwork or cute little aliens or anything in between.  Enjoy!

Whoever answers with an image first is responsible for next week's DITI.

Game "Rules" for the newbie:
A photograph of any quality or subject is posted at the start of the week.  Members are free to use that photo and change it in any way by adding, deleting or manipulating  elements into it.  It does not have to be labor intensive. Something quick and easy is as much fun as something that takes a long time and is very intricate.

Each member can have up to 3 tries at it each week. You can do something to the original post or something to one of the "morphed" images.

The first person who puts up a re-worked photo after the original one is posted is the person who is responsible for uploading the next Monday's original image for us to work with.If you have any questions, be sure to ask.  Several of us are "old hands" at this and we will be glad to help out.

Tried adding a couple of figures to this picture but the POV (top down) adds a special challenge for getting the perspective correct. I'll give it another try soon.

For my first postworked DITI, all I've done is postwork the normal levels, curves, added a bit of saturation and a dry brush filter followed by a canvas texture. Lots of fun.

Great ones!

@Bill  I like the deep blue, the dark contrast and the textures. It has a great richness.

@Gonzo  I like the way the filter calmed the scene and the wonderful highlights in the trees.

La mia prima

myrrhluz posted Tue, 09 August 2011 at 5:09 AM

Wonderful Mario! This really brings out the geometric shape of the fountain. I like the way the building and people recede into the background.

myrrhluz posted Tue, 09 August 2011 at 5:10 AM

Here's my first.

mariogiannecchini posted Tue, 09 August 2011 at 5:28 AM

Thanks Lucinda, was just what I wanted to get me pleasure, if possible, break plans. The next will be very different.

Beautiful interpretation of fractal type your own! Very bright colors! Congratulations!!

myrrhluz posted Tue, 09 August 2011 at 5:39 AM

Thanks Mario. A bit of Fiesta crept in. :)

auntietk posted Tue, 09 August 2011 at 12:25 PM

Wow!  Great work, everybody!

I love the richness of color you got, Bill.  Looks like you're next up on Monday for the new DITI!

LOVE that filter you used, Gonzo.  It's just to my taste.  Beautiful result!

Mario, the black and white "sketch" look is wonderful for this.  I particularly like the way the branches turned out.

And Lu!  Wow.  What a great result!  It feels like if I turn the kaleidoscope a little bit, the fountain will fall apart ... such a sense of motion!

I'm looking forward to seeing what else everyone comes up with.  And gosh ... I'd better get busy, huh?

:D

Thanks to Mario, I'm arriving in this "game"! I don't know if I can rework the images... I have little time, but I will do my best! Here is a simple reworking made with photoshop plugins ( Flaming Pear_melancholytron and Lucisart). :-)

Greetings from Sicily!

Wonderful to see you here Maria!  Your image is beautiful, like etched gold!

Love the tomatoes, Tom and would be really interested to see him carry them home.

Very attractive crop, Tara. I like the way it leads my eye from the fountain to the sunny open doorway.  I always love silly. :)

auntietk posted Tue, 09 August 2011 at 11:49 PM

Love the pastels, Lu!  That would be great as the background for a festival poster.  The pale colors lend themselves nicely to having text over the top.  I might steal this idea from you at some point!  :D

myrrhluz posted Tue, 09 August 2011 at 11:52 PM

I have a question.  I was working on an image using the distort filter pinch and I started to see a beast's face.  So I went to liquify and played around a bit.  The result is more of a 2D than a photo manipulation.  Is that something to post on this thread?  If not, that's cool.  With Tara's permission, I'll post it on my gallery sometime.  :)

myrrhluz posted Wed, 10 August 2011 at 12:01 AM

Cool Tara! I love your image and text combinations!  :D

auntietk posted Wed, 10 August 2011 at 12:26 AM

If it's based on this image, by all means go ahead and post it here!  :)  Doesn't matter how you postwork it ... just Do It To It!

Number 3.  :)

auntietk posted Wed, 10 August 2011 at 12:40 AM

LOL!  Maybe that's the answer:

"Okay, I've put the ducks in the fountain.  Now what?"

"Now go find Ernie!"

:P

LOVE the way this turned out, Lu!  That's way cool.  You absolutely have my permission to post it in your gallery.  (I forgot to say so before ... sorry.)  I agree it's 2-D.  Nice work!

Beautiful colors, Mario! I like the way you have brought out the silvery tones of the sidewalk and trees.  They stand out more from the building, which is a lovely soft pink.

Thank you, Tara. I like what you say. Do you think Flickr is registered under the name VanMario  (Thinking of Van Gogh).

Thank you, Lucinda. Your comments, as you know, are among my favorites (great description of your CHAOS, I've just described the scene of departure).

Of course, both good day.
