Made of cardboard with a plastic gun, the original toy was sold for a very short time in Europe (by Meccano), OZ and NZ (TolToys), Canada (Kenner) and in the UK (Palitoy), but never the USA. Over time it's become a Holy Grail amongst Star Wars collectors and an original will easily sell for over 500 quid (800 US Dollars).

This freebie version is presented as an example of how as as 3d artists we should always try and up our game, improve our work and explore new ways of working.

In this case it's a totally new construction methodology I'm developing. One that can convert most 2D images into 3D models. Apart from the guns and base clips, the rest of the set was created totally using the new technique. So I'm presenting this model here to showcase that.

Partly because it's a new process, and partly because the original toy was made by folding up bits of card, some
areas are not 100% perfect. But hey it's free!

Also the model isn't rigged like the original toy either. The Top Section (Ring and Gun) doesn't rotate or have moving guns, the trash compactor section doesn't move and the trash compactor door doesn't open. So if anyone does fancy rigging it theres an extra ungrouped .OBJ in the zip file.

Obviously like all Fan-Arts freebies it's strictly non commerical usage only. Which is how it should be :)

BTW - Over the next few days I'll also be creating another unique highly fun freebie using this method. So watch out for that!

But for now heres a link......

Pinky - you left the lens cap of your mind on again.
