Ok, now I'm really confused. I installed Poser 9 as recommended, using Vista-friendly installation. But I can't see any of the content libraries when I browse through the file directories. Also, how does one load up content, like V4? I used the traditional installation file for V4, and it did indeed create the data files in the runtime directories, put Poser 9 does not seem to pick it up or to recognize it. I realize this sounds weird, but I need guidance.  PS: I am using Vista, with UAC enabled. PPS: please someone tell me where to find those darn files. Thanks!

Poser 9 gets installed in Program files (x86)Smith MicroPoser 9
The essintial content gets installed there too.

But your actual content Runtime is in your Your users acount.
Search for the Actual content runtime in your users acount.
This is dictated by the OS (Vista) and how your PC is onganised.
Do a search for something simple, Ball.ppz or something alike?

Your OS should then point you to your location of Your actual content Runtime

ha-ha-, zillion Poly Vicky should be waiting for you there too.

Thank you! I found them!!!

PS: What the heck are crz files! Does Poser 9 read pz3 files.

vilters posted Fri, 30 September 2011 at 1:52 PM

crz are compressed cr2
ppz are compressed pp2

pzz are compressed pz3

Poser9 will read them all

For saving yourself you can select compression ON - OFF in General preferences.

Thank you. It worked like a charm!

I wonder if there is a better way to do this. Rather than manually copy and pasting files directories to migrate content from one platfrom to another.

Thanks for your information!

You can link all your existing runtimes into the Poser 9 library.
Or, as you wish / want merge manually.
But first take a deep look at the new content organisation.

There is a script included with Poser to add all your Runtimes automatically. In the top menu go to Scripts > Partners > Shaderworks > import_runtimes2012.

IMPORTANT! This script will boot you out of Poser! I would recommend shutting down any scene files before running it, if you happen to have any open.

Does Poser 9 take a different approach to content organization? If so where can I find out more?

Did you install the content that came with Poser9?
If you open the library you will see that the content is organised in a different way.

A lot better then before.

I don't have Poser 9. I was just wondering about the content organization of it. I've always felt that content management was one of the biggest weaknesses of both Poser and DAZ.

You know you have to load any external runtimes (from within poser using the add button) that you want eg your runtime with V4 in it, unless you installed V4 into your main poser runtime.
