Here's a little rush job I did: 6am I woke up, thinking I should try another animation for the TEDxDelMar event today. But I watched a little Liverpool vs. Manchester U soccer, Liv was leading 1:0... the game didn't look clean, not inspiring. I remembered Steve Jobs' commencement address, if today was my last day, is this what I would want to do? I decided I had to give it another try for the intro anim for TEDx. So I went to work around 6:15... and left home by 7:45 to bring wife to work and myself to USDS's KPBS studio about 40 minutes later, 20 minutes before the show was set to start. Made it.

You can see the clip here:

(they showed it a few times, first time after the first 3-4 presentations, there were some technicalglitches that prevented it from showing at the opening. oh well, it's not about perfection

Carrara was used to model the dancing molecules and place them on a sea of waves. They're dancing to the tune of "Dawn of a greater Day" by DJ d'Artagnan who's battling Multiple Sclerosis. How fitting, since this TEDx was about stem cell research for pancreas, diabetes, lupus, multiple sclerosis and other similar diseases

There's also a little bit of Dogwaffle in there, and video editing with 3D transitions by Cyberlink PowerDirector, my vide ed tool of choice at the moment.

I hope you like it, but above all, please spend a few minute thinking about who amongst your circle of friends and family have diabetes or similar ailments, and donate a buck or two to a society that helps fight these conditions. For example joining the fight against MS (NOT microsoft, that's www.nationalMSsociety.org where right now every dollar you give gets doubled.
