I have been a Bryce user and recentrly I bought Vue 9 Frontier, I was a little surprised that the program comes with about two ot three free items per category; 3 trees, three plants etc. Everything else has the Cornucopia logo meaning you have to buy it, some plants are 3 bucks others are 10 dollars and up. I am aware that Bryce comes loaded with presets and freebies but Vue comes with virtually nothing except for the software. I have seen this incredible artwork with hundreds of plants, trees and clouds and following the explanation some images have several hundreds dollars in upgrades.

I know I have to get familiar with the program but in my computer it is much, much slower than Bryce  with a single scene and it came out really light and void of any contrast. I f you are season Vue user and tips would be appreciated. I saw some sort of fantasy package, is this some type of content or is another set of buyable items.

I'm surprised it only comes with 3 trees, even the free Vue Pioneer ships with more...

Did you download the contentfile as well as the installation?  There are lots of trees and other plants on there

Here is what I meant ONE  free bush all others are for sale.

e-on is more giving with their trees.  Not so much with bushes or flowers.  e-on sells plant packs up the ying yang.  It may be cheaper to buy Vue Complete?

1 bush is normal. 3 trees isn't. Just read the feature list, you should have 10 plant species total. Not much, I agree.

You can find dozens of free items here at Renderosity.

Just ask for vue downloads and you'll find trees, houses, landscapes, flowers, etc...

You need the 3D import module and then there is a ton of free stuff for Vue.  Using Frontier, anything you have in Poser or DAZ format can be imported, but really think about the import module.

Thanks guys! Wow, $ 129 dollars for the import module!! No kidding is better to dish out for Vue complete, I first need to master the program a bit, now I find it fustrating, so much computer power for so little. I know it is a wonderful software, I have seen the artwork but right now I am getting subpar renderings and it seems that the tutorials I have seen require Ecosystem ( ANOTHER $100) but I'll get there. I may post some images and hopefully get some tips from you guys.

Run a search for free Vue models. There are tons of stuff out there. I got most of my stuff free.

bruno021 posted Wed, 14 December 2011 at 1:54 AM

No free models can be used without the Import module, or the Esprit version at least.

drifterlee posted Wed, 14 December 2011 at 10:05 AM

That's a bummer.

Even with complete you still only get that one stupid bush. But, you do get three flowers, some sci-fi trees/plants, sea plants, and about 10 or so good quality trees.

C3D just had a sale end that basically gave a huge discount on the indivdual trees. I got almost all the trees listed in the Official plants megabundle, so I'm basically set as far as tree needs right now.

Here's some of the trees I bought in a quick render.

When I have gone from Bryce to Vue I bought Vue5Pro and after I have upgrade to Vue6Pro: now I work with old version Vue6Pro.

I paid more than the normal Esprit or Frontier, but I wanted the opportunity to use the eco system.
It came to me with something good already inside.
With time I have bought some thing.......

I do not know what options to give artists Frontier versions, but the eco-system is very nice to use.

I have just started with Vue but I knew going in that I was going to have to add modules as time went by. I downloaded Pioneer last month and this week I will buy Renderup. I have downloaded some free stuff some will work now but other stuff will have to wait till I can buy 3d import then it will work.

It may take a year to get to where I want to with the software but I am on a fixed income so buy it all in with Complete is just not an option. Plus it will give me time to look and decide just what I want to purchase and at what times.

I think patience is nessesary with Vue as it is pretty complex.

Good luck and in due time all will be as you want.

If you are interested in Sci-Fi then check out Foundation 3D, they have some outstanding free models mostly in lightwave format.  Of course you will have to have the import module. Before you buy a lot of modules you might want to check the cost of upgrading to at least Vue esprit since it includes the import and render up modules.
