Hiya guys and gals, happy hollidays. Can we create content or items or props in Daz Studio Advance? Thank you kindly for the responses.

You can use primatives (cube, sphere, plane, etc.) in Daz Studio to create very basic props. With the addition of the Content Creation Tools for DS4 you can rig figures or clothing (but they would need to be created in an external modeling program).
To create semi complex or complex models, you will need something other than DS. One of the most popular free modeling programs is Wings 3D - many vendors use Wings. Blender is another very good free general purpose 3D software that has some very good modeling tools. Of the two, Wings is probably the easiest to learn. Blender is the most "powerful", but also a lot more difficult/complex to learn.
Hexagon is a modeling program sold by DAZ, and there is very good integration between DS and Hex. For me, Hex was very easy to learn, Wings has never really clicked with me. If your new to 3D, I'd say give Wings a try first to see if you like modeling. DAZ sometimes puts Hex on sale for a really good price.
Another good full featured general purpose 3D software from DAZ is Carrara. I've used it for years, and it has very good support for DAZ figures (the new beta version has support for Genesis). I would guess soon after Carrara 8.5 comes out, C8 will be free on one of the 3D Magazines like 3D world, then you could use it to get a low cost upgrade to 8.5.
I may have created more questions than I answered, so feel free to ask for more info.

soory dustrider but litterally if you have any of the content creation plugins from ds2.3 and above you can creat the daz dynamic clothing ot cloth ( not a freakin comets throw from simple) to rigging the most complex item of clothing.
the best way to find out about creating content in ds is to buy the figures, characters, and avatars guide to ds2.3 you get with the paper back hard copy about the equivalent of 500-600 $ of content and software and its uber worth the price either onsale or reg price look into it it
ll give you the basics ofo all ds versions starting with ds2.3 which is where ds3 and ds4 are reallly based from

I think you mean conforming clothing, dynamic clothing requires a more specialised set of tools and is generally being made jointly with OptiTex, since the tools would cost over $10,000. However, it is true that the base Figure Setup Tools plus DS3 (they don't work in DS4) are the minimum requirement and cost only $30 less any sale discount or Platinum Club Discount.

TheHalfdragon - I agree with Richard .... I think you mean conforming, not dynamic. his comment about the change in the tools (figure setup tools to Content Creation Toolkit) from DS3 to Ds4 is also important for the OP to consider.
Unless I've been completely asleep at the wheel (which is always possible), you still need a modeling program, or somthing like the clothing creator toolkit from PhilC, to make the clothing objects to use with either the figure setup tools (DS3) or the CCT (DS4). There are no true modeling tools in DS.
I think the book you refered to is an excellent way to start! I believe as well as tons of content, you also get Hexagon and Carrara, along with some excellent tutorials. But, if the OP want's to make his/her own unique clothes and props, a program capable of modeling, UV mapping, and exporting to .obj format is required.

well i have no prob with being corrected if i'm wrong so no worries on the corrections lol. and hexagon2.5 that you get with the book is not a bad modelling program plus you can send what you're working into daz directly from it to check if it works or looks like you want it to in daz. same with the carrarra 6 pro that comes with the book.
