I'm new to Vue and just recently bought Vue 10 xStream.  I also bought the Skin Vue 7 and the Poser Character Plugin.  After installing all the scripts, I then opened Vue.  After Vue loads, I keep getting a wxPython error when running the Skin Vue script..  I'm stuck and don't know if I'm doing this right or not.  Thanks for the help.

Hello!

You got the wrong version of SkinVue. SkinVue 7 is for Vue 7. The version of Python used changed between Vue 8 and 9. You need SkinVue 9 or SkinVue Elite to use with Vue 10. See if you can return the wrong version and get the correct one (in that case get SkinVue Elite).

Do you think they will let me return it?  I don't have Vue 7.

I do not know for sure. I have not returned anything at Cornuciopia. But I would suggest to email Christie at support@cornucopia3d.com and explain that you have the wrong version and that you would like to return/exchange it to the correct one. Can't hurt to try.

Thanks for the help.  I EMailed her at support.  If that doesn't work, I guess I can pay an additional $15 for the upgrade for a grand total of $45.

But wait until Monday. Support does not always answer on weekends.

SkinVue is great if you do a lot of renders with Poser/DAZ figures. In the meantime, you can just import the figure and edit the materials by hand. Typically you need to reduce the bump by about a factor of 10 and adjust the highlights. For the skin, go for a slightly off-white highlight with ca. 20% intensity and 36% size. This gives you a decent starting point to optimize. Use the "edit all" feature to edit a whole batch of materials in one go.

Feel free to ask question if you run into issues.

Yes. wait until mid-day Monday for an answer from Christie. It is likely that she will be happy to make the exchange for you.

It is the policy of E-On's owners/CEO that Cornucopia3d has no paid staff (and therfore, " support")  on the weekend. (Some kind of crazy French attitude about things.) Christie sometimes goes through the e-mail support files on the weekends for a few hours, but it is at entirely her own time.  So don't count on that.

BTW, Christie always works through the e-mail support requests first thing every morning. People who write requests to brokering@conrucopia3d.com get first priority in answers and help.  People who write support requests in the Forums aren't usually seen until later.

And please be a little patient - sometimes the problems people have with Cornucopia3d actually turn out to be problems they are having with their internet service providers, theri Paupal accounts and so forth. These kind of things take a loooooong time to trace out.  But Christie is friendly and most likely to make an exchange for you.

Well I found out what my problem was but I still need that swap so I'll wait till Monday.  I installed the wxPython and Vue 10 doesn't require that.  I was able to bring up the Skin Vue script and inject but the render looks like crap.  I think it's a render setting.  I don't know what a good render setting should be.

Don't install any wxPython anything.  Just extract the ZIP file and copy the skinvue folder as the instructions show.

Load a sample scene into Vue and render that.  Pick a scene you like and that renders fast and use that one for your base scene until you understand what all the render settings do.

My problem is, I don't know what a good render setting would be for Skin Vue to work well.  I can get a better render out of Poser 2012.  So I know I'm doing something wrong.  Also, I don't know if I'm applying the Skin Vue textures properly.

Another question I have is when I bought the Plugin for the DAZ and Poser Characters, did I buy the right one for Vue 10?  I bought the Skin Vue 7.4 for both the DAZ and Poser characters.

Do not install SkinVue 7.4.  Install SkinVue Elite.  Let it use its default settings for converting the skin maps of your imported PZ3 figures.  Place the PZ3 figures outdoors so the sunlight hits them.  You need Poser installed also.  Post screenshots of your renders.

OK, I will give it a try.  I hope this works.  Thanks for the help.
