Are you sure dreampaint is the artist you wanted to list above?
They do not have any pictures posted since 2001!
MrsLubner posted Tue, 06 December 2011 at 12:57 PM
They must have removed their gallery. Yes, they had a large number of posts this year. I'll make a note that he is no longer in the running.
Thanks...

Please, anyone coming in to read this thread/vote, please, please mention it in your next upload that we are running this contest. There is not soliciting votes but an announcement by members that the Photography Forum is running a contest for Photographer of the Year will reach more members and hopefully stir up people who will vote.

I have something to argue, if I may! Nothing to take away from these very talented artists who you have chosen, but I wonder why it was left out mariogiannecchini, which is one of the most talented photographers here on Renderosity!
I don't understand also why his pictures are rarely put in the Last Week in the Gallery, despite being the only photographer present in Art Charts!
Sorry for my comment, but I need clarification on how they are chosen the pictures that photographers!
Thanks for your any answer and congratulations to the artists chosen!

LWitG is designed for recognition.
The images are ones that deserve a second look - maybe its the composition, a dramatic mood, a new technique that a member has learned and perfected, or just the overall quality of their uploads that has improved.
It is not about who did the most "perfect" photo that week. Its about who is being more original, whose skills are improving most and being noticed, and who is noticibly making strides in a new style or new technique.
When letters are sent to LWitG winners, they clearly start out by saying images are chosen because they are worth a second look.
To be perfectly honest, if the team had their way, we would have put the names of all persons who post to the Photography Gallery in the running because then everyone would be a contender. We also could have chosen only the Gallery of the Month artists for this year as nominees.
However, this year we decided to do it a little different and give the artists who recieved the most LWitG recognitions a chance to hear from their peers.
If anyone has any further concerns or questions about this contest, please site mail me or email me (MrsLubner@renderosity.com) and I would be happy to listen and consider comments when looking at next year's contest.

Thank you for clarifying my doubts, PJ. You were very exhaustive in your answer!
Now I understand better how do you choose the photos to put in LWitG.
Thanks again for your availability! :-)
Kind regards

Maria, I know there are many members who do not understand that the Photo staff knows the posting members very well. We don't always post comments, but we examine carefully the posts to see what is happening. We know when a member is improving or posting under a stretch of blank inspiration. :-) We take pride in knowing each member and the quality of their work.
We don't look at photos on a level playing field. We look at them as individual skill and talent performance. We encourage each photographer to build themselves as if they were blocks forming a pyramid... the broader the base and the taller the pyramid, the more accomplished they are becoming. Our monthly GOM is more for the ones who have already gone to the top and have little to prove. :-)

Well, you could knock me over with a feather! As cliched as it sounds, it really is an honour just to be nominated :)
Good luck to all!

When someone posts a comment on any of my uploads, and the image provokes a good memory, or otherwise an emotion, so those are the comments I cherish the most.

I just spent a little time looking at all the galleries here. I wish I could spend more. Everyone has very beautiful galleries. Great work by the staff and suberb galleries by all artists here!

My name is not on the list so I'm going to be very petty and not vote at all.
Meisiekind posted Mon, 19 December 2011 at 9:19 AM
To Harry:
If you take the time and read the thread you will see PJ's explanation of how the names were chosen.
However, in the end it is your choice whether you want to vote or not.
I always say to people here in SA during a General Election - No Vote - No Opinion! :))

What a fantastic lineup of photographers! What an honor to be on this list with many of my absolute favorite photoraphers around. I don't get to spend as much time on Renderosity as I'd like, but just seeing the list above has introduced me to photographers and galleries I really need to get acquainted with! Congratulations to EVERYBODY nominated!
jophoto posted Mon, 02 January 2012 at 10:05 AM
Someone had congratulated me on being on the list, but I never could find the list so I never voted and never even saw the list til today. Silly me! If it weren't for Tara posting it in her gallery I still wouldn't have seen it! Congratulations to everyone and a special congrat to Tara for being selected.
