I started this while following a doc Geep tutorial, then I got carried away. It's still under construction. I intend to smooth out the body lines, make the canopy open and close, and the landing gear will be retractable. I am also going to work on making the landing gear look a little better. There are a few things I am going to do inside the cockpit too.

Here it is:

And the last one. I didn't put a character in there, but I did scale it to fit them.

I just had a hard look at the landing gear. I am going to change it to either wheels or tracks.

The Skids are not necessarily a bad idea for a space ship.  A scifi ship probably doesn't need to land or dock in the same ways as a traditional airplain(at high speed). As you mentioned making them retractable would be +10 for cool points. :) Nice modelling though. It's a lot of fun isn't it.

It is a blast! I did some more work on it, and I'll post some more renders later. I did change the landing gear, and I am working on making some space in the hull for the landing gear to retract. I smoothed it out and it looks a lot sleeker. More to come!

Some more work done on the ship. I did some work on the hull, changed the landing gear some. There are no textures on this, only gray shaded it to bring out some of the details.

Still going to make the landing gear retract and have the canopy open and close. There will be some more added to the cockpit: a joystick and some bells and whistles.

View of the engine. I may change this too, make it a double exhaust...

A close up look at the landing gear.

cool, nice start.

next step is breaking the edges with some bevels: nothing is ever really a perfect 90 degrees, and its usually the bevels on objects catching reflections that really defines their shape as we see them.

Cool, I will work on that when I get back into the model!

Thanks for looking!
