Subject: Why does my preview window keep turning white?

This happens from time to time but recently it's been happening more and I don't know how to fix it.  I find it very annoying.

When I hover my mouse over a figure or object, the preview window turns white (but the rest of the UI is still visible). I can't work if I can't see the body parts I'm trying to select and move around. :/

I tried changing the display style but it doesn't fix anything. Even with cartoon and no textures I get this problem a lot..

What version of Poser are you using?

And what video card do you have?

And - just before you have this problem - did anything (actor, prop, element) in your scene have cartoon display mode on?

It may be an OpenGL issue. Switch to Sreed preview.

I have this very same problem but everything goes white and at the very top in the title bar it will say Poser is not responding. It happens with me each time I work with a Mil 4 character mostly when I first bring it into a scene and when injecting morphs. As I said only with Mil 4 people and nothig else. After the screen goes all white about 3 seconds later everything comes back and works normally. I've has this problem since Poser 8 and I have reported to SM almost with every version.

Now, I always keep all my drivers up to date both system and graphic card wise. I also have used three different machines since Poser 8 with entirely different specs and yet the same problem occurs. It doesn't matter if I am running Opengl or SreeD it happens all the same. At first I thought maybe it is a driver issues as SM says but now I don't feel it is. It has happened on three seperate machines the only thing that is the same between the three is the OS and brand of graphics card. My present rendering rig is an I7, 12 gigs of ram, 1TB HD with a 1TB drive for storage, a 1gig graphics card using Windows 7 64-bit. As I have stated this problem has occured for me since Poser 8 and that was different machine when I used poser 8.

Vue, Wings, Blender, UVmapper and other 3d programs I use do not do this only poser and poser alone.

I have this happen to me from time to time, usually after an extended session in Poser, swapping around models and/or textures.  Granted, I have a tiny machine (1.5 GB RAM) with an ancient single core processor.  I believe it's - in my case, at least - Poser grabbing as much RAM and processor time as possible but not freeing it up later.

Perhaps the old gripe about unused textures hanging around is related to the matter.
