I'm using Vue 9 studio. I am trying to make a movieclip of soldiers marching in formation. I have only 3 of them the rest I made using duplicate. The problem is that when I make so many copies I run out of ram and Vue becomes unresponsive. It is as if every duplicate is usings the same amount of memory as a normal one I import.
The Soldiers are figures from Poser Pro 2012. They have a simple walk cycle. I am only using 3 of them and the rest are supposed to be copies.
I set the soldier animations to do a loop in the Animation toolbox after making a copy of them.
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
Also how do I get Vue to use only 3 cores rather then 4.
Thank you all for your help.

You can set vues core affinity in the task manager (assuming you are using windows?)
Go to processes, right click on vue then select "processor affinity" or something (my current laptop is in swedish not sure the english translation sorry!) then select which cores you want it to use.
Not sure about the poser/ram issue though sorry!

What if you used your figures as an ecosystem?
Lord_Garland posted Thu, 05 January 2012 at 6:59 AM
I can't use them as a ecosystem. I just need about 20-30 of them. They have to march in line. Also I dont' have ecopainter.

You have 9 Studio, same as me and you do not need eco painter only ecosystems and you have that, but I don't think that will help with a walk cycle.
I would rather

Then have Politically
Correct-Incorrectness!!!

Create a rectangular plane and populate that then move the rectangle as required?

I read the mannuel. It says that copies do not take up more memory. But i must be doing something wrong. Has anyone made a large number of copies before? Is there something I might be doing wrong? This should work.

perhaps they mean that instances don't take up more memory.
Or maybe because each PZ3 is still connected to poser, so if you change the scene in poser it changes in vue might up your memory requirements? I think you can break the link to poser by ungrouping and grouping the pz3 then save as a vue object then bring it back into your scene maybe.
Love esther
I aim to update it about once a month. Oh, and it's free!
