What a lovely start for this challenge, Carin. :-)

December the 19th I was at a little Christmas party. Each of us brought a little present for about 3-4 dollors. Later in the evening we were rolling dice to win a present. every time we got a 6´er we could take a present until there were no more presents. Then the fun began. Within ..maybe half an hour,  we could now when we got a 6´er STEAL a present from the other players. At last, when the time was gone, I got a tiny present and the guy to my right side got a big heavy one.  We opened and he was disappointed, as he got a package with a...HUGE LEEK. Now, I luv leeks, so I would gladly have received such one, so we agreed to swab present, so I could take home a lovely gigantic leek one of the guys Harry in this party had grown in his garden... IT WAS GOOD.

Then yesterday I was to an even bigger party with our club. A new Year Party. And this time we were over 30 people and each brought a present and after dinner we were playing this present game. We were divided into 3 teams, but when the time came, that we could steal from eachother, we could also steal from all the other tables(teams)... and of course we were not stealing from our own team.  MY oh my, what a war it was. All these pensioneres were running around and stealing packages from eachothers and there were screamings and laughings. It was simply such a priceless fun.

But before the party began, Harry gave me a present.....this nice box with more leeks HAHAHA! He is such a fun person full of humor, but now i know what to have for dinner today :) and it is good, because i have desided to eat a whole lot of veggis in 2012... i actually do eat alot, but now even more. :)

Meisiekind posted Sun, 08 January 2012 at 4:06 AM

Oh Helle - what a lovely fresh start - the decision to eat more veggies! I think I will join you!

A lovely image of the start to the veggie year!

Here is an upload of an capture I captured today.

I uploaded a capture not so long ago here at Renderosity of this cat.

Well there is a new beginning, a fresh start, small kittens.

She gave birth in a drum to 4 kittens.

A co worker working with me showed me where she and her kittens is.

There is no light in the cable tunnel where this drum is situated.

I made use of a torch as light source and i could not put my eye on the viewer of my camera.

So this is a wild shot.

Had to push the ISO to 1600.

Also had my aperture setting at 3.5 to let as much light in as possible.

My camera also fell not high though and it is still working.

Just thought I would share this with everyone.

Used neat image to remove noise and cropped this capture a bit.

Blessed day and week.

God Bless.

**The first eruption of Etna in 2012! A "roaring" start "! ;-)**

I state that this photo is not mine! It was taken by a friend of mine! Unfortunately, I have not my photograph... when I looked out from the balcony, the phenomenon had already concluded!

I asked to Carin if it was possible to post a photo of others on forum and after her authorization, I asked the permission to my friend who has willingly accepted! Thanks to both for their kindness!

I hope you like it. My friend is not a professional photographer, but he is just an amateur!

Everyone's images are great ... what a variety!

I'm particularly jealous of Helle's leeks.  I'm thinking about leek soup ... wow.  :D

Now I guess I need to start thinking about starting things!

I love what everyone has done so far.  I have no new babies, new kittens or emerging leaves to show.  What I do have to share is a photo of a Broad Wing hawk, a stocky but smallish hawk sized like a chubby crow.

This one needed a new start and is getting one.  Found with a damaged wing which unfortunately could not be restored, the hawk was nursed to health and has a new start and new life as an educational hawk.  He in named Amigo and will be part of educational programs for schools, club groups, taken to camp grounds and more. In that role, Amigo will help birds in the wild even if he is unable to return to wild living.

He will have a good life and good care.  Nature is preferred but when the choice is dying in the woods or having life and a comfortable and purposeful one, the later choice is best.

I took photos of this hawk for his "resume" or CV, hoping to land him a job at a rehabilitation/educational center needing a very nice broad wing hawk.

I really am boosted by the appreciation of life in many forms in this challenge.  Isn't it refreshing?  And...again the leeks...what can I say.  There is life from mankind, from the soil  and the creaturesand from the power of nature.   Very refreshing, indeed.

micturn posted Sat, 28 January 2012 at 1:30 AM

Great shot, his expression is priceless :)

3DGuy posted Sat, 11 February 2012 at 1:13 PM

Since there's no new challenge I thought I'd add to this one. Yes I'm aware it's a bit late :P

Anyhow, this one was taken January 1st. It's a tradition over here to take a dip in the sea on new years day to ring in the new year... or to wash the old year away. This brave young boy weathered the cold for a dip... it was around 6 degrees celcius(around 42F).

They also do it when if freezes :P

Hi dear Friends,

After having admired all your original images, which really are a special contribution to this new start of the challange in 2012,
I am so boldly to send a couple of my photo's.
Four, if I may.
Maybe they are boring, but I do it anyway. :)

Thank you very much,

Cheeky as I am, another one here. A Chestnut, who has a new addition to be a tree, ever.

LOL, talk about lack of participation in the challenge, I made an attempt to disprove.

The pictures are all made in January.
