I want to make a low-poly 'proxy' model, just the .obj, to fit over V4's head and neck. Collision would be checked "on" for this proxy, checked off for the actual head and neck.

Then, when dynamic hair sim calculates with collision on, the sim engine only has to calculate, say, 200 faces, not 14,000.

This is good enough for a medium or long shot.

Obviously the proxy is turned invisible before render.

I exported as .obj the head and neck of my "dialed up" V4.

I ran Wings3D and imported. You can see the two 'groups" are not welded, even though I said to do that in my Poser export.

I think my next move is to combine/weld/merge the neck and head, then to "decimate" (is that the right term?) the model from 14,750 faces down to a few hundred.

I could not find the command to "weld" nor "decimate".

Would any Wings people be willing and able to help me?

I'd publish the model as a freebie, but it is a "purpose built" face and shaped head, so not strictly applicable to general v4 hair simulation proxy usage. So I'll post a thread demonstrating the concept once I get it going.
