I picked up my copy of Poser 9 at Fry's today, and I am installing it as I type this. I can't wait to see what everyone has been talking about. This is soooooooo cool....

Man, 3GB of content.... it's taking quite awhile to install. I keep seeing familiar things loading, and I want to start playing right away! It's installing the PoserNudes right now, so I think it must be close. I chose a full install, but I don't remember how many items were checked off...

I think I am going to have to redo my superhero costumes though. I had a major crash of Poser 8 a few days ago, which prompted me to go out and get Poser 9, and I lost my old runtime. Oh well... It's a good thing, though. I made so many mistakes on the costume for Green Lightning the first time around...

Holy cow! I have been installing for almost 2 hours and it's not done! I don't remember Poser 8 taking this long.... Need a better computer?

3 gig. The question begs asking: do you actually use all that content??

Ouch.... Poser 2012 took about 6 minutes on my newer machine.

Things I found cool were-
SSS skin of course
More render options where you can you can make an object invisible, but still appear in reflections - good for rendering somone in a mirror where there is a wall in front of the camera.
Faster rendering/memory management. Though I do have to sometimes close Poser and re-open to free up memory before a big render.
The program opens really fast.
The library options a cool too.

Poser2012 versus Poser9
What is the difference? I had version 9 but have since uninstalled...Are the same
iitems etc in 2012? I do remember one version had a casino, another had this super awesome car... Anyway to install just these two items? Think I go back to Version 8

I have only just gotten it loaded, so I haven't really done anything with it. I am about to go in there and see what is going on... wish me luck...

If he's using Poser 9, it's purely 32bit so he'll still be limited to 2gb~ of memory to use even if he's on a 64 bit OS. That could negate any of the speed improvements unfortunately.

I know... but there are some new things in there that I haven't seen before. I really like how the runtime is set up this time, though. Seems a little easier to navigate the library.
And I still have to go find and install all the free stuff I was using prior since I lost my old runtime in that nasty little crash 5 days ago or so.

My machine is a couple years old now, and I am running a Core two duo P7450 @ 2,13GHz, with 4GB of RAM... I think maybe the DVD ROM is probably starting to give out in it, because I have had large file downloads that loaded really fast on this laptop with no issues.
